CHAPTER 8 - TANIAN PENTAGON

<Leo's Point of View>

Immediately after leaving Valak, the first thing I looked for was a shirt. I found one next to Valak where we found the prophecy, but it had holes. That will do, I told myself.

After walking another mile or two, we end up inside a basketball court of ice, I knew immediately that we were in Xilos. I didn't complain, this was better than Valak, that was for sure. I saw three silhouettes and was about to charge at them until I saw their faces. It was Benedict and Mikey with a young man with scruffy hair, I couldn't tell how they confused him as me, we looked nothing alike.

"There you are!" Mikey yelled as he rushed to me and body slammed me.
"Ow" I managed
"We were looking for you!" Benedict said "We got into trouble and we met him, Matt"
"Hi!" he said "Erm.. its only us five?"
"Yeah. We found something" Beatriz said
"Can we please do an introduction first?!" I demanded

Everyone awkwardly stared at me.

"What?" I said "Whats wrong?"
"He's right" Matt said
"I assume you told them who we are?" I asked Benedict
Benedict was tying his shoelaces "Honestly.."
"No. He hasn't" Matt replied
"Hey!" Mikey said

I honestly believed he was joking, but Matt's confusion made me believe they were saying the truth.

"So my name is Leo, those two, Benedict and Mikey were searching for me and thats..."
"Beatriz" Mikey interrupted "Ben's girlfriend"
"Hey! Do I have to repeat myself?!" Benedict demanded
"Chill" Beatriz said "Be as cool as the ground"
"The ground that devoured my sister" Matt added "Yeah, as cool as that"

Me and Beatriz stared at him, then we stared at each other, having a silent conversation, it went something like this.

Should we tell them about the prophecy? I asked
No! Not with that random guy there! she replied, agitated
Remember, we need five. He is our fifth.
What about Ean? she said
I dont know about you! Its not my fault that you guys separated!
Whatever, Im not saying a word!
Fine! Suite yourself! I said

After almost fainting because of that conversation, my head probably more confused than Matt, I finally spoke "So... I found the Tanian Prophecy"

"You did?" Benedict asked
Beatriz brushed off her shirt. "No, I did"
"You said you wouldn't say a word!" I yelled
"Whatever" she replied
"Anyways... We found it. Can you... Like show it to them?" I asked

Beatriz was obviously offended, but I didn't care less. She rummaged through her pockets and viola! The scroll was there.

After reading the scroll, Benedict's face was flat, but Mikey's was amazed. I thought Matt didn't care that much, but his face was filled not with amazement, but with anticipation. His eyes seemed to glow red, as if he wanted revenge on someone.

"Five" Matt said "We are already five. Now where do we go?"
"Ean?" I asked "Where is he?"
"Ask Beatriz" Mikey suggested

We all glared at her, "We split up, he went to Leo's house"

Benedict scratched his head, "Thats where we were supposed to go!"
"I knew you didn't know where his house was, so I made sure. I was good on my own" Beatriz said
Mikey giggled, "I guess you were right, we got lost"
"Anyways, we cant bother looking for him" I said, finding any excuse to not go back home.

"He's right" Matt protested "Where do we go now?"
Benedict's face glinted, as if he had a stupid idea, "We need to decide on a name"
"Mikey?" I asked 'You gave me a shirt with Protectors' on it"
"I did?" he asked
"Cant we use that name instead?" I asked
Benedict looked up to the sky, "No, we shall not use that name"
Beatriz patted Benedict in the back, "It is a bad omen"
"Pentagon?" Matt suggested "Its a polygon with five sides"

State the obvious I wanted to say, but I actually agreed, Pentagon was a really good group name, at least I couldn't think of anything better.

"How about Tanian Pentagon?" I suggested "If we want to solve the Tanian Prophecy, shouldn't we use the word Tania?"

"Leo's right" Benedict said "We could agree to that"
"Now, where do we go?" Matt asked, seeming for the billionth time.

Benedict fished something out of his pocket, "This is the dimensional shifter"
"Let me guess, it create portals to other dimensions?" Matt said
"And we are supposed to chase after this 'piece' that lands at the east?" Mikey continued
"How do you guys know all of this?" Beatriz asked
I bit my tongue, "They learned that from me"

Everyone glared at me like they were thinking how to kill me, which reminded me, we needed weapons
"Anyways" I said "What will we use?"
"I still have Osiris" Benedict answered "Bea, you still have Isis?"
"Yeah, the staff?"
"Thats from Egyptian mythology, right?" I asked "The god of underworld and magic?
Matt stared at the dimensional shifter, "How did you know that?"
"Rick Riordan" I responded "I love him"
"We are going Egyptian themed weapons? Fine, I'll take Hades" Mikey said with a smug face
"But Hades is Greek, not Egyptian" I said
"Who cares?" Mikey said "Its still part of mythology, bro"
"Mythology?" Matt asked "Why care about names when you dont have a weapon?"

I nodded in agreement

"I can do something about that" Benedict replied

He waved his hand, and suddenly there was a glaive and a knife, both coated with green and blue respectively.
"I'll take that knife bro" Mikey said "I'm naming it Morpheus"
"Didn't you say you were naming it Hades?" I asked "and isn't Morpheus the god of dreams?"
"No and yes, bro"he answered
"Matt?" I asked
"Take the glaive, im not good at throwing" Matt suggested "Im more of a tech guy"
"Thanks!" I said "but isn't the glaive a one time use?"
"No, it reappears to your hand after it hits a wall" Benedict answered
"Nice! I personally think naming is childish-"
"What!?" Beatriz demanded
"But I'll name it, just for you guys" I added "Apollo, its a good omen"

"You guys ready?" Beatriz asked
"Ready as ever!" Matt yelled "For Zoe!"
"Im good now, bro. How about you Leo?" Mikey asked
"Revenge!" I shouted in sarcasm "I cant wait to die again!"
Matt stared at me
"Joking" I managed

After another minute of silence, another cold wind pressed my skin. I felt like someone was coming.

"If I may, can I borrow the shifter?" Matt asked timidly
"Oh?" Benedict said "Oh okay"

As he gave the dimensional shifter to Matt, the device started to shine brighter.
"I knew it!" Matt exclaimed "Wait.."

After pressing a few buttons and a couple smashes, a portal materialized above us. I felt like gravity was bending, I somehow knew that if we jumped, we would enter the portal.

"I sense like someone it chasing us, I recommending going now" I said
"I agree" Beatriz scratched his arms "We need to go"
"Where?" Mikey asked
"We will see soon enough" Benedict said

As soon as he said that, we all simultaneously jumped. After a minute or two of nothing but darkness and weird noises, and also me screaming for most of the trip wanting to turn back, we dropped into a small puddle of water. The sky was a light pink with blue and green glows of light. I believe they were called auroras? Auroras. There was a thick mist of white smoke around us.

When the mist cleared, there was a large city. I didn't recognize it at first, but it seemed similar to Manila, Philippines. Something was telling me that this wasn't Manila, maybe an alternate timeline?

I turned around and saw Beatriz and Benedict tending Mikey, who seemed unconscious. Matt was more worried about the fact the dimensional shifter broke. We wont be leaving anytime soon.

"Where are we?" I asked
"Quick" Benedict said "Mikey's unconscious"
