It was a warm day in the middle of summer. My wife Mariah was sitting watching TV as I came in the door. The house was cool and nice. I always looked forward to relaxing with a beer after a long day of work. I walked up the stairs and saw two suitcases sitting at the top of my stairs both packed to the brim. Beside the suitcases was a box filled with can food and other things to eat.
Mariah sat in the living room tears running down her face. "Mariah what's wrong." I asked as I sat down beside here. She just grabbed me and cried into my shoulder I took a glance at the tv and saw why she was crying. The broadcast was paused and in big letters showed 100 people suspected in eating people.
I couldn't look away from it, I just couldn't believe it. Mariah finally stopped crying which snapped me out of the trance .
"Did you listen to it."
"Yea, they said they had 100 suspects in a case where over 1000 people had been eaten alive. A few cops shot them but it didn't seem to work."
I got up and went out to my van starting to pack everything in the back. Within 10 minutes we were on the road. We drove down the road and stopped by one of my friends house. He was outside all his bagged already packed. He watched as I pulled up.
"Hey fucker your late." he laughed at me. "Sorry TJ got backed up on my way back from work just found out. load up we will make a few stops then get heading north." He jumped in throwing his bags in the back. We pulled out and headed down the road.
The roads weren't packed and most people seemed to be heading home. I guess news didn't really get out for what was happing. "Do ether of you know if it has left the city yet." I asked hoping it hadn't yet I wanted to get ahead of it. "It started in the down town core. I don't think it has spread to far yet." TJ said. "so I guess we have to find another way to get supplies for now."
