ONE YEAR & FOUR MONTHS LATER

A door buzzes as Dom's cell door is opened before he follows the other prisoners down the hall.

"Money is an illusion," Tego Leo says in Spanish as he works on a car with Rico Santos.

"Illusion? You got illusion lying around. I'll take it!" Santos replies in Spanish with a shake of his head.

"Illusion," Tego argues before saying this in Spanish. "I'm telling you, it's real!"

Dom smiles as he looks over at them from the car that he is working on.

"Yo, what do you think?" Santos asks as he notices Dom looking over at them. "Es una ilusión o es real?"

"It doesn't matter. It's all about how you choose to see it," Dom answers with a shrug as he puts a socket on his wrench.

"Shit. I told you I was right," Both Tego and Santos boast at the same time while looking at each other, causing Dom to slightly chuckle.

"I'm Tego Leo," Tego says as he looks back over at Dom.

"Rico Santos," Santos introduces himself as well.

"Dom. What are you guys in for?" Dom asks after introducing himself.

"Driving while brown," Tego answers him with a frown.

"That and we also blew up a bank," Santos argues as he slightly glares at Tego.

"That's not the point! They stopped us because we were brown not because we blew up a bank," Tego explains as he glares at Santos.

"Okay. You're right," Santos admits as they go back to working on the car.

Dom lightly smiles as he thinks about how Alexis would get a crack out Tego and Santos. The smile turns to a frown as he wonders what Alexis is up to. Mia had told him that she has not seen much of Alexis since she finished her car, though he does not know how true that is since Mia was trying not to hurt his feelings.

"Woo, para, para, para. You see that? Hairline crack in the fuel line. Air gets in there, you got a lean condition," Tego says as he points to the fuel line of the car that Dom is working on.

"Lean condition?" Dom asks as he looks up at Tego confused.

"Old trick pit crews use to throw a race. But that crack opens up and a spark gets near it. Fire bomb!" Tego explains before he demonstrates something exploding.

Dom thinks about what Tego said as he remembers the day that his father died. Dom realizes that Jakob was the one under the hood of their dad's car right before he died.

Dom is released from prison early for good behavior before he goes looking for his brother at Buddy's. Dom does not find Jakob but Buddy does give him a car.

Jesse, a kid that Alexis had taken in, bounces excitedly as he looks around at all of the cars. Alexis smiles at him from where she is sitting on the hood of her car. He has become the little brother that she nor Letty knew they wanted or needed.

Vince is standing nearby while flirting with a random girl. Letty and Mia watch the crowd for the arrival of Jakob, since it is his night to race. Alexis and Jakob had agreed on swapping out who would race each week.

The group is shocked when Dom pulls up beside them. Alexis watches with wide eyes as Dom gets out of the car before Vince, Letty, and Mia walk over to him.

"Hey," Letty says as she makes her way over to Dom before punching him, causing him to fall back against his car. Dom rubs his jaw as he had expected as much from Letty after breaking up with Alexis the way he did. "You had another eight months."

"Good behavior," Dom tells her with a shrug as glances over her shoulder to see Alexis still sitting on the hood of her car.

Dom has to admit that she looks hotter than ever, sitting on top of her 1971 Ford Mustang. Dom slightly frowns when he realizes that Alexis is making zero effort to speak to him.

"Oh, Dom," Mia says as he makes his way over to her, pulling his sister into a hug. "You didn't call. I would have picked you up."

"I'm here now," Dom replies with a smile as they pull apart.

"Welcome home, brother," Vince says as he and Dom share a quick hug.

The crowd begins to cheer as Jakob gets out of his car, soaking in the cheers from the crowd.

"Who wants next? I said, who wants next?!" Jakob questions as he looks around at all of the racers.

"I got next," Dom announces as he looks over at his brother.

"Dom," Jakob says as he looks at his brother in shock while Mia looks up at Dom confused. "Well, when'd you get out, man?"

"I said I got next," Dom responds as he walks closer to his brother, causing Alexis to narrow her eyes since she could tell that Dom is up to something.

"Come on, Dom. You don't want to race me in Buddy's old Charger," Jakob slighty taunts as he steps forward while motioning to Dom's car. "No, it won't even be close." Jakob points over at his car. "My mustang? With all the mods that I put in it?"

"Car don't make the driver," Dom says as he slightly rolls his eyes while he walks over to his brother before speaking in a whisper so that only Jakob will hear. "Here's how this goes. You win, you can come back home. You lose, you keep driving, you don't stop, you don't ever come back. Ever."

"What do you mean, Dom?" Jakob asks as he looks at his brother confused.

"I know what you did," Dom answers him, causing Jakob to frown. "The day we lost him, Dad kept talking about a misfire. Remember? You were the last one under his hood that day. A minute later, he was gone." Jakob's face turns to one of shock. "Tell me why you killed Dad." Jakob thickly swallows because he doesn't know what to say. "Now let's race."

An all clear of cops is given as Dom and Jakob move their cars to the on ramp that leads to the bridge where they will be racing. Letty looks at the two cars worriedly as she hands Alexis that flashlight that they use to start races. Alexis walks between the two cars.

"Ready?" Alexis asks as she looks between the two cars before moving the flashlight to rest on her shoulder. "Set." Each brother revs their engine before Alexis turns the flashlight on. "Go."

Jakob and Dom both take off in wheelies before Dom takes the lead. Jakob quickly accelerates, getting beside Dom as they move onto the bridge. Jakob is slightly panicked as he drives while Dom is calm behind the wheel of his car.

Jakob glances over at Dom, who twists the knob on his NOS bottle to get it ready. Jakob flips a switch to get his NOS ready as they near the end of the bridge where a crowd is waiting. Jesse runs across, spray painting a finish line as the crowd clears out of the way. Dom starts to get in front of Jakob, causing him to hit his NOS before speeding ahead of Dom.

"Too soon," Dom says as Jakob has trouble controlling his car because of the new speed. Dom hits his NOS before speeding in front of Jakob.

"No!" Jakob yells as Dom crosses the finish line before him. Dom comes to a stop as the crowd rushes over while Jakob continues to drive, leaving several people confused.
