I quickly opened my eyes as my ears were filled with some sort of growling sound. Panicked and scared I looked around my room then sprang up from my bed. Was there something in the house?! What could have gotten in?! There was no was something could have gotten in without the alarm going off. I quietly and swiftly ran to the stairs and sneaked to my moms door. There was no sign of movement the whole trip there. My heart was pounding and I was shaking.

Believe it or not, my mom used to have problems with people breaking in before so she kept a metal bat in the closet.

I ran into the room quietly then looked for my mom.

She wasn't there.

My heart racing, my blood heating up, my breath short and fast, where is she?! I ran to the closet then grabbed the bat. I walked out of the room with the cold metal bat in my hands. Raising it quickly as the growling got louder and louder. I jumped onto the table then... I saw it.

There it was, huge white eyes and what looked like branches that spread out everywhere

There it was, huge white eyes and what looked like branches that spread out everywhere. It was holding a lantern and yet, its body shape and looks were completely unknown to my eyes!

I froze, there was no moving my limbs... The growling was so loud that it had to be him, this was it for me... but then, just as the growling started the creature stopped and turned. This was my chance! I quickly raised the bat and with all the strength in my body I swung.

Crack. I hit it! The creature stumbled back then quickly fled out through the window. I watched it run away as I closed the window. There was a slight gracefulness to its run, it sure was quick though. It ran towards the forest then out of sight.

I felt a strange chill run down my back, a slight breath leaving my mouth and clouding up as it got colder. I tried to make sense of what that creature had been, what did it want, if it is so fast and quick on its feet then why didn't it attack me quicker... I didn't want to think about it anymore, I turned around to the room realizing that it was still pitch black. I tried flipping the light switch but nothing happened. I started calling out for my mom but then I remembered that she wasn't in her room. I ran to the front door and swung it open to look for her car in the driveway, it was there. where the heck is she, where would she be at like 4 in the morning!!! Where's my mother...
