I woke up before my beauty and could do nothing but stare at her adoringly. She'd never looked so peaceful, and her being at peace meant I was too. The gorgeous creature in my arms had the potential to be beyond lethal, to be more deadly than I was, but was so vulnerable right now.

"Roza, my love," I broke the moment to wake the woman in my arms.
"Mmmm. Comrade?" Seriously? That damn nickname was the first thing she thought when she woke up? I had to chuckle softly at that.
"Yes, milaya. And is that all you think night and day?"
"No," she tried being indignant but her yawn ruined it. "You? Mmm, maybe. But that nickname? Not all day. Your accent? Yeah, that's on the brain all day and all night."
"You hear everything in my Russian accent now?" She turned sheepish and it made her look totally adorable.
"Guilty as charged," she mumbled.
"We do have a church service to get to, don't we? You do ha-"
"Have friends to meet? And enemies I want to avoid. Can't you put me under proper house arrest?" She pouted. Sorry love. Not going to work.
"No. As much as I want to stay here with you all day too."
"I love you, Dimitri. Seriously."
"I love you too, my Roza." Okay, I was not taking one step out of this room with out asking her this, "be my girlfriend?" She'd still be my student according to everyone else. But after what we'd done last night, I wanted her as my girlfriend rather than my lover. The latter felt as degrading and demeaning as student.
"I thought you'd never ask!" she teased in a whisper yell. "Of course, of course I-" I'd gotten the answer I wanted.
"Oh, shut up!" I softly returned the banter and shut my girlfriend up with a kiss.

We eventually split up to go to church. After first agreeing to extend our hours again. We were including weekend trainings so we had a more solid block of time.

"What are you rushing out about?" Mase asked as I prepared to bolt towards the gym. And my boyfriend therein.
"Training. Dimitri extended my hours," ugh, I hated that singular possessive, "because I still haven't learnt nearly enough." True and false. It was half an excuse to spend more time together.
"And you want extra hours with the antisocial god?"
"I want to learn what I need to know. Now, please Mase, let me go. He's no fun when he's pissed because I'm late."
"Belikov has a fun side?"
"In the same way I have a serious side. Now, let me go."
"Fine. Later Rose."

"What kept you, my love?" My man didn't lift his nose out of his cheesy Western when I entered the gym seconds later.
"I think you mean 'who'. Mason." I sighed and switched places with the novel in Dimitri's hands. "Now. What's the new drill?"

A killer apparently. Laps, weights and reps all increased dramatically. And a number of complex new moves. "And I thought I was dead before!" I teased as we walked out. I could barely move.
"Hmm. How are you feeling in comparison?"
"What kind of question is that? I feel worse than after that first day back. A million times worse."
"It'll b-"
"Be even worse tomorrow? Yeah, I know!" I laughed and I knew my soulmate was having a hard time keeping a straight face.

"Rose! You're needed!" Alberta called me over.
"Yes Alberta?" I quickly sobered.
"Dashkov wants to speak to you."
"Did he say what about?"
"Shadow kissed." That had all my defences up.
"Okay. Show me to him."
"Rose," Dimitri warned.
"I can protect myself Dimitri. You're my mentor, not my guardian." God, calling him my mentor was blasphemous. And the look in his eyes showed the term the hurt inflicted was just as I'd thought it would. I owed him big time. I loved the man to no end.

"I stand corrected. You are my guardian," I commented softly after being scooped up by my man about half an hour later.

Natalie had turned to try and free her father. He'd told me some rather scary stuff about being tied to the land of the dead. And had gotten nothing out of me when he had tried to grill me over Dimitri. Who'd he think he was? He was the one behind bars, so I was the one who called the shots.

"You're strong, extremely strong and incredibly resilient, but still very vulnerable."
"Really, Comrade? Rose Hathaway and vulnerable don't go together!"
"Neither does vulnerable and Dimitri Belikov, yet you make it happen. So suck it up."
"Screw you!" I muttered teasingly under my breath.
"Rose!" my other half quietly warned with a hidden playfulness.
"Sorry Dimitri." I pouted playfully for a millisecond.
"All good Rose," came my love's soft reply as he opened the clinic doors.
