I groaned when I heard the loud screams of my little girl, Abigail, through the baby monitor on my nightstand. She was currently only five months old, almost six, and I loved her to death. It's been tough but worth it. I remember when I first looked at her and just bursted into tears. I was exhausted since today was the wedding and I'm supposed to be getting ready in the morning. Yesterday me and the girls, including my mother and Lisa, were running around like crazy, making sure that everything was perfect even though it's supposed to be a small wedding.
After I was released from the hospital, a week later, Dillon was too. I made sure to thank him for saving me that day. Travis, David, and May are all in jail. Catherine struggled after the whole ordeal and had to go to therapy but I made sure to stay outside the whole session, waiting for her so she had the reassurance that I was there for her if she needed me. Now, thank goodness she's gotten better so no more nightmares but still occasionally has flashbacks. Luckily my mother and father were there for her when I couldn't.
We were also quick to start the process of adoption for Annabelle since we wanted to be her guardian. She was ecstatic when she found out and was happy to join our family. After a couple of months of living in Lisa's house since she was the only one with room for us, Jack surprised me with a simple one-story house that could fit all four of us. We moved in straight away, getting the nursery room ready since I was about seven months pregnant at that time. Everything happened so quickly but we were lucky.
"Get up Jack, it's your turn to check on Abigail" I mumbled against my pillow.
"Wasn't it my night yesterday?" Jack asked tiredly.
"No, it was mine, now up" I ordered.
Jack groaned as he got out of bed and walked out of the room to check on Abigail before Annabelle could wake up. I fell back asleep for the rest of the night peacefully, thank goodness, though I woke up to Annabelle shouting at me to get up and get ready. I tiredly got out of bed and walked into the bathroom to shower as Jack stayed asleep since he didn't have to get ready till later along with the other guys. Jack was going to look after Abigail till he had to get ready then my mother and Lisa will look after her at the venue during the ceremony and reception.
Once I was done showering and changing into some jeans and a simple top, I walked into the living room to see Annabelle sitting on the couch with Catherine, laughing while watching TV. I smiled at that, they've become inseparable now and I couldn't be happier about that. I looked over to see my mother and Lisa on the other couch. My mother was holding Abigail and they were both making silly faces making Abigail giggle uncontrollably as she reached out to them, trying to touch their faces.
I walked over to them and sat on the other side of my mother. I kissed Abigail's forehead and she giggled again, putting her tiny hands on my nose. I scrunched up my nose as she kept giggling. We played with Abigail for a bit till we had to leave. We got into my mother's car and headed towards the venue to do our hair and makeup there. Once we got there, we exited the car and I was immediately ushered inside towards the area where I would get ready. I saw Amanda and Sarah already inside the room, talking excitedly. They jumped up when they saw me and ran, almost tackling me in a hug. I laughed as I hugged them both back.
"You excited for your special day today?" Sarah asked as they both let go of me.
"Oh you have no idea" I said and they both chuckled.
The hair and makeup people came in shortly after and did what they needed to do though it did take like about 3-4 hours of prepping. I had then put on the wedding dress that Amanda kept for me during the time that I was pregnant. The others kept gushing while my mother and Lisa tried not to cry. I rolled my eyes with a smile. I turned to look at my bridesmaids and maid of honour, that being my sister. They all looked amazing. It may have taken a while for this day to come but it was worth the wait.
