Chapter seven
Hmmm, I’ll just close my eyes I mean its getting dark outside and the man on our row is snoring great. I look into my mums face her sleeping form. If im hiding this then what is she hiding it must be something bad. Maybe she’ll tell me what it is in Australia, but what happens if she tells me then leaves me at the airport stranded alone? No she’s not going to do that. She’s not hiding anything you’re being stupid, silly girl. My eyes started to shut only seven or eight hours till we land. I shut my eyes, last thing I remember was the air hostess putting a blanket on me what an nice lady. “Im sorry, I really am I can just see it your going to have a bad time” I heard her mutter before going into a sleep. I was already dreaming though.
“Wake up were landing” someone spoke softly in my ear. My eyes flickered open to see my mum smiling lovingly into my face. I put my seat upright and strapped in. But had I honestly slept for like eight hours? I mean wow; I normally can’t sleep when travelling. Well im glad its almost over and we haven’t died. Then the descent began.
We were soon on the ground, on the sweet lovely ground. I undid my seat belt and grabbed my over head bag almost running out the plane. I was excited to be in Australia but also to be off that metal tin of death. Mum followed suite trying to catch up with me. When I stopped running I was in a long corridor full of people. I was here. We had done it. This was real. “Woah there solider” my mum caught up with my, she was breathing quite fast. We were soon at baggage claim now for the fun.
Round and round the bags kept on coming. Just not mine. But what was funning is watching people run around the thing after ‘their’ bag then them getting there and hauling it off to find its not theirs but then they see theirs and they do it all again. Hang on wait there is my bag. “Mum there over there that’s our bags” I pointed at two bags going round we went found a spot to see them better when they came round. They were our bags. Mum pulled hers off instantly put I was trying to pull mine off and was being un successfully dragged along. I was panicking I wouldn’t get mine off. Then a pair of strong hands helped me get it off. I looked up to see a boy about my age. “Thanks” I muttered. He smiled, like a proper smile I hadn’t seen any of these in like ages. “Anytime” then he turned and walked away.
Hold up he helped, smiled, talked and walked away. THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS. Where was my fairytale ending? Meltdown here. Oh yea he was just trying to help me, of courses he’s not interested im just me. Who is? No one #teamforeveralone. My mum grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the exit, I grabbed my case quickly and turned so I could walk and not be dragged. “So there should be a person with the name M Harris on it.” Mum informed me im guessing that’s our ride. When we walked through the door into a bigger room with people with signs each side and the door to freedom. I saw the person mum was describing near the door so pointed at him, and mum rushed over to check before waving me over.
“This is Percy our taxi driver to our house hunny” I nodded I was still and little groggy and dumfounded by the plane journey and mysterious boy. I really wished I’d asked his name but again my shyness. I kicked myself how stupid I can’t even ask the boy his name. I stepped outside, the first that hit me was the humid weather. Oooh I was going to like this oh so much. We were soon on the road heading towards um Glenroy I think It was. That’s where are house is.
“Hello” there he is again. The same dreamy boy I saw his lips break into a huge smile. I waved at him to come closer. I came and shook my hand. “Hey im new” I replied to this stranger, he nodded and lead me into a house. “This is my house I have three brothers” I nodded just looking round his house, such a lovely house. Then he turned and kissed me. My first kiss. It was spectacular, fantastic. Almost dream like. “Ilove you” he spoke to me and I knew he is the one.
