He was lost in his thoughts on the deserted pier,
His heart heavy without exactly knowing why,
Maybe the lonely morning had taken his last cheer,
Or maybe it was the blue sea and the cloudless sky.
He wished he had someone by his side to share
The still beauty of the instant and the serenity
Of the new day. How he would have loved to bare
His soul to another and let time drift into eternity.
She was lost in her thoughts on the deserted beach.
Fate brought them together at this precise moment.
They recognised each other's soul within their reach
But by a bizarre twist,
Eros' arrow missed
And they went on their way without acknowledgement.
