OK so the new chapter got me wishing I didn't have a heart

"It smells good.." a soft mumble came from the man who had just entered the house. Sanemi had just finished a mission, and was now finally home to the place you both shared.

"(Y/N)?" he called out as he removed his shoes "Are you cooking?"

No answer.

An, could it be that she was in the kitchen?

He began to walk to where the kitchen was, a soft smile on his usually aggressive face upon seeing the young woman preparing some Ohagi.

She glanced at him and began to grin "Ah! Welcome home!!" she sweetly sang while holding up a platter "I made you some ohagi! I'm glad you're home early, because if you weren't then they might have went bad."

Sanemi went to her side and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, somewhat mirroring the smile that she had.

It was a smile.. An expression.. A way of saying "I love you" that no one else had the right to see from him.

"Thank you, I appreciate it" he gently ruffled her hair while the smile remained on his lips. They both brought the platter to the table, sitting across one another like it was a date.

They've been together for quite some time now.. But little things like this always kept them feeling like they were still in the honeymoon stage.

(Y/N) reached out to hold his hand and left a soft kiss on the back of his palm while her cheeks flushed into a soft shade of pink "I'm very happy you're home.." she muttered as their eyes met.

His eyes reflected the same loving gaze that she had as he, too, kissed her hand "I'm happy to be home, especially to you."

"I love you, 'nemi"

"I love you too, (y/n)"

And with that, the duo dined with happy hearts.
