Please tell me this is a nightmare

"Babe, please open up," Liam said pounding on the door again. I slowly stood up and wiped my eyes. I had sat on the floor for at least half an hour trying to remember anything after I blacked out. I opened the door. Liam opened his arms and I gratefully fell into him. Being in his arms was so comforting. I don't know why, but it felt so natural to feel him against my body, so soothing to have him pet my hair, and so loving the way he held me.

I heard a knock on the front door. He slowly pulled away from me and led me to the living room. From what I could see, It was a pretty nice flat. The flat was kind of messy but it was expected from a guy. He led me to the couch were I sat down as he went to open the door. I heard three new voices coming from the door. I noticed them immediately and excitement shot through me.

"Is she okay?" I heard Mary say in a worried voice.

"You guys should come in," Liam said. I heard the three of them shuffle in and then I saw them round the corner into the living room. I shot up from my seat and enveloped the three girls I know to be my best friends in a huge hug. When I pulled away I noticed a difference in all three of them. They were definately older. But, I noticed a bigger difference in Ava. I could see her stomach had protruded a lot. I set my hand to my stomach silent asking if it was true or not.

"She really doesn't remember, does she?" Ava asked. Liam shook his head.

"How far are you?" I asked her trying to see how much I can't remember.

"Almost nine months," she replied. I felt tears prick at the corner of my eyes. I can't remember any of my best friends pregnancy.

"H-H-How old am I?" I asked in a shaky voice trying to keep the tears at bay.

"You just turned 21," Mary said in a soft voice. I gasped. I can't remember the last three years of my life. I fell back onto the couch in a fetal position. I felt the tears begin to flow freely. I could feel soft arms envelop me in a tight hug. It must have been Mary. She's always been more mom like.

"What are we going to do," I heard Jess say to Liam.

"We need to get her to the doctor," he said. Mary continued to make soothing noises in my ear to try to stop my crying. I slowly began to calm down. I felt my muscles relax into Mary's arms as I heard the muffled sounds of Jess and Liam conversing. As I felt my self completely calm down, I sat up and wiped my eyes. Liam walked over to me and knelt down to eye level.

"Ba-," he stopped suddenly,"Alexis we need to take you to the doctor." I nodded silently and stood up. Ava giggled a little.

"Let's get you dressed first," she said. She dragged me to the room I woke up in. She walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out jeans and a t-shirt. How did she know they were in there?

"Jess, how did you know about those clothes?" I asked. She shook her head and walked out of the room to let me get dressed. I looked around the room. It seemed familiar, but I don't remember ever being here. I quickly got dressed into the clothes and walked back into the living room, silently. The others were no longer in the living room when  I walked back in but, Mary was still there.

"Here," she said handing me a pait a shoes. I slipped them on and followed her outside. The light was really bright and practically blinded me. Mary got into the back seat with Ava and Jess and I got into the front seat with Liam.

The ride to the doctors was completely silent and the whole way it looked like Liam was trying to hold my hand. When the car stopped we were somewhere that looked like a house, not a doctor's office. I gave Liam a confused look.

"We have a private doctor," Liam explained. I was still confused, but I got out of the car and followed them to the house. Liam knocked a couple times and a guy opened the door. He seemed to be in his fifty's. He had graying brown hair and a warm inviting smile.

"'Ello Liam," he said giving the boy a hug. He nodded to the rest of us and opened the door to welcome us in. He brought us into his living room and sat me down.

"Alexis, what seems to be the matter," he asked.

"I don't know," I replied honestly," All I can remember is the night of my eighteenth birthday, blacking out, and then waking up with a splitting head ache." He nodded.

"So, if I would take a guess, you don't remember me?" he asked. I shook my head.

"Well then. Hello, my name is Dr. Greene It's nice to meet you," he said extending his hand. I shook his hand lightly.

"Alexis, what I believe is wrong is that you have a case of amnesia," he explained,"I don't know if this is permanent or temporary, but it is very important that if you remember anything to tell someone." I nodded. I didn't trust my voice at all at the moment. My emotions were overwhelming me entirely. It kills me inside to know that I can't remember anything. I was hoping to wake up at any minute and that all of this was just a terrible dream. Dr. Greene dissapeared into another room and came back with a bottle of pills.

"Here you are," He said handing me the bottle and continued to explain,"It's pain killers to help with the head ache."

"You four," he said pointing at Liam, Mary, Ava, and Jess," Don't try to force information on her. She'll remember at her own pace."  They all nodded.

"Thank you Dr. Greene," Liam said standing up and shaking hands with the doctor. We all piled into the car back to Liam's house. I wished that I could just remember everything right now. Not knowing your own life is the worst experience in the world.
