I woke up to my alarm going off. I was excited to go open the shop in hopes that Heather would come in again.
Getting a quick shower I got dressed. I did my hair into a fauxhawk. I looked in the mirror and I felt confident with the way that I looked. I headed downstairs, picking up my keys I went out the door to see Amber leaning against my car.
"I thought you would've been down there already opening up." Amber smirked.
"Oh stop." I said.
"So what happened after I left?" Amber raised her eyebrows at me.
"She got her book. I asked if I would see her again." I smiled.
"And?" Amber questioned wanting to know more then what I was telling her.
"Just small talk. Nothing too serious but she reassured me that I would see her again if I continue to make the coffee for her." I said. "Now can you get out of my way so I can get to work." I said as I opened the door pushing Amber slightly.
"I'm riding with you." She smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "Fine but get in the damn car so we can get going." I laughed as I shut the door.
Amber raced around to the other side and got in. I started the car up and pulled out of the driveway.
"So are you going to talk to her today or are you going to drool over her?" Amber laughed.
"I wasn't drooling. I was checking her out." I smiled.
"Mmmhmmm." Amber said.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing." Amber laughed.
"Try not to embarrass me." I said.
"I can promise nothing." Amber said. "I may just get her phone number for you."
"Don't. Let me do this how I want. I don't want to rush into anything, not after Jessica." I said.
"Okay I won't but I will talk to her if you don't." Amber smiled.
"Ahh gosh you frustrate the hell out of me sometimes." I laughed.
"That's why you love me and it's also why we are best friends. Your life would be dull and incomplete without me." Amber said as she stared out the window.
I pulled into the parking lot and got out. Amber followed me as I went to unlock the door. I walked in and started to get things ready for the day. Amber put my book on the table that Heather sat down at yesterday.
"What are you doing?" I raised my eyebrows at her.
"Letting her see your book." Amber smiled.
I went over to the table and picked it up. "If she wants to read it then she can pick it up not you putting it there for her!" I narrowed my eyes.
I felt as someone reached and grabbed the book out of my hand.
"I do need a good book to read." Heather smiled as I turned to look at her.
"I'm sorry my friend here can be a bit overwhelming at times." I said softly.
"No it's fine. I want to read it. In a way it will be like I'm getting to know you." She said as she went and took a seat.
I went and made her iced coffee for her. This time I brought two over one for me and one for her. She smiled when I sat down across from her.
"Break time already?" She smirked.
I stood up.
"Wait your fine. Take a seat." She said.
I sat back down and took a sip. "I'm glad you came back."
"I had to come back for another one of these. What do I owe you for it?" Heather asked.
"Nothing." I smiled.
"Then at least take this for a tip." She reached across the table and grabbed my hand placing a five dollar bill in it.
"I don't need this. I enjoy making coffee." I said.
Heather smiled and closed my hand around it. She held my hand for a brief moment before she let it go.
I felt myself blush as I turned my head away so she wouldn't see. Amber smiled as she watched us from behind the counter.
"It's cute when you blush." Heather said softly.
I turned back to look at her. "Thank you." I smiled.
"You're welcome." She said.
"I should probably get some work done." I stood up and went back behind the counter.
"Why didn't you get her number?" Amber asked.
"Oh stop. I will get it when I'm good and ready." I smirked.
We got busy and I didn't have much time to look at Heather. By the end of the day I noticed she was still sitting there. She was reading my book. I went over to her and picked up her empty cup off the table.
"You're a good writer." She said.
"Thank you." I said. "It's that time to close."
"You're welcome and I know." Heather stood up. "I won't be in tomorrow. I got to take care of a few things and do some homework. I didn't want you to be disappointed if I wasn't here."
I smiled. "I will see you around."
"So your going to make me ask?" Heather said.
I looked at her a bit puzzled.
"Your phone number. I will still like to talk to you when I'm not here." Heather smiled.
I smiled. "Of course." I wrote my number down on a piece of paper and handed it to her.
"Have a good night. I will maybe text you later if I don't have anything planned." Heather smiled.
"Sounds good." I said as I walked her to the door.
Amber went out to my car. I locked the door as Heather waited for me.
"Thanks again for the coffee." Heather said.
"You're welcome. Can I walk you to your car?" I asked.
"Sure." Heather said as she started towards her car and I followed. "So do you open all the time?"
"Yes I do. We are only closed on Sundays and holidays." I said.
"So Sundays your free?" Heather asked.
"Yes Sundays I'm free." I smiled.
"Maybe we could do something, that is if you don't got any plans." Heather said.
"I would like that. Just send me the details and we can work something out." I smiled.
"Of course I will." She stopped at her car. "Have a good night."
"You too." I smiled.
I turned to walk away but Heather grabbed my hand. I looked at her and she pulled me into a hug.
"Don't be so nervous around me." She whispered in my ear.
I blushed as I pulled away. "I can't help you make me nervous." I said softly.
"I think it's rather cute." Heather said.
I started back to my car as Heather got in hers and pulled away. Amber was leaning against my car with a big smile on her face.
"Don't even!" I said.
"What?" Amber laughed.
"You know what." I smirked as I got into my car.
Amber got in and laughed. "I like how she gets you so jittery. She has your number now. So I say that she's into you. I think it's rather cute watching the two of you go back and forth."
"Bite me." I sneered.
"Oh it's not me that you want to bite you." Amber smirked.
"Fuck you!" I shouted.
"Again it's not me." Amber laughed.
Once we got back to my place we headed inside. That's when I felt my phone vibrate alerting me that I had a text message.
