Third Person POV
There she stands on the edge of the cliff. Over-looking the ocean at the edge of her homeland. As the sea crashes against the rocks at the base of the cliff, and the salty sea air hits her face. The cold wind blows her white as snow hair into her face; as she pushes it to the side, her eyes seem to reflect the sea itself. The deep blue color could just take your breath away. While her skin is a pale cream with just a hint of sun on her cheeks, on her left ear is the Ice Diamond that her mother had given her as she lie dying. She had told her daughter that it would help her in the future. As the wind blew through her hair again Yuki raised her hand into the air willing the air around her to become colder, her eyes flashed to a sliver that almost seems to glow. Then floating down through the air she looked up to see snow and ice mixing together. Making her smile knowing that her ability had finally gotten strong enough to right the wrong that happened to her and her clan.
Looking off into the distance thinking that she was truly alone in this world, beginning unable to trust anyone but herself. Knowing full well when ever she closed her eyes the massacre that happened to her clan ten years ago, would flash before her with every detail of that night like it had happening but yesterday. Seeing everyone's bloody bodies littering their village and the flames that consumed all the houses and buildings. She remembered that is had started in the middle of the night just after midnight, when a group of humans that her people had come to trust and trade with over the years. With how well or relationship was with them and the trust they had bestowed upon them. When they came into the village with torches and swords, going from house to house as her people were sleeping, killing everyone that they found then setting the buildings on fire. One could say that they never saw it coming, and when the other villagers had begun to notice what was going on it was far to late to stop it. Those that were still alive ran to the temple in the center of the village, trying their best to ward off the intruders.
Her parents and many of the others had taken heavy damage trying to ward of their attackers, but were still having a hard time and were unable to fight them off much longer. So Yuki's mother carried her to the front of the temple and placed her under the podium. Bending down she placed the Ice Diamond that she had received from her husband when they had fallen in love, into Yuki's hands. Then whispering into her daughter's ear and she said, "Even when all hope seems lost, and when you are alone in the dark, love will find its way in. Your destiny is greater than you could ever imagine. Now stay here until they have all gone, and don't make a noise or move no matter what you hear." As Yuki sat there crouched down with her hands covering her mouth so she didn't cry out.
In that small dark crevice listening to the screams of her parents and people, she wasn't able to stop the tears falling down her face. She heard the intruder's asking if they had gotten every last one of them; and to check every place someone could be hiding. She slid herself as far back into the darkness as she could, as they searched the temple one last time looking for anyone that could be left alive. She slowly cried herself to sleep, hoping that she would be alive in the morning. Morning came, and the village had been completely to the ground; everywhere she looked there was death and mayhem. All of her family, friends, be it the elderly and the children no one was spared; that is but her.
Yuki's POV
Ten years of scavenging and hunting for food while training to become stronger. It was in my sixteenth year that I had decided to a mercenary for hire, trying to hide my origins, being from the Snow tribe; as well as trying to find the reason my people were murdered. It was around mid-summer of that year that I began to hear whispers of a treasure that a witch's coven had hid away from the world and it's prying eyes over a millennia ago. At first I was just hoping that I could get a high price for such a treasure since I was so short on funds. Then as I started to find out more about the treasure the rumors had mentioned that it might have a connection to the massacre of my people ten years ago. This now had grabbed my full attention, so I began heading for the town that was connected to the rumors of the treasure. After traveling for nearly a week I entered the region that my village use to be I had finally arrived, I was shocked to see the town had become under the rule of Fire tribe. I had know that over the years the Fire tribe was amassing power and had morphed into an empire, but I didn't think that they had made it this far north since they were a desert people.
