This particular instance of tracking was getting to be rather boring. 103 didn't really seem to be making advancements towards finding his own target, rather he seemed to be working on finding a place to lay low. You could only assume his plan was to wait for people to come to him or wait for an opportunity to arise that he could easily take advantage of. Perhaps 103 just wasn't as confident in using his skill set for this particular phase of the exam.
This was of no concern to you though. The most important thing for you, right now, was finding an opening on him that wouldn't backfire. As it stands, you weren't entirely sure of his abilities. You had been hoping to see him use more of them during this little reconnaissance but alas, he was keeping it on the down low. You were almost tempted to lay some traps in hopes of getting him to showcase his skills but you didn't want to push too hard and give away your position. Your target hadn't seemed to have caught on to you yet which was very advantageous for you.
Eventually, 103 led you to a cave. He disappeared inside, leaving you to watch for his exit. However, he didn't exit. In fact, the next few days passed on by without you catching neither hair nor hide of this man, which was really grating on your patience.
You quickly leaped through the trees, circling this cave. From your vantage point, no other entrances or exits were visible. There was also no way to tell what was going on in the cave. You really couldn't figure out what was happening in there without sneaking in in person but you were hesitant to do that without any kind of intel especially since you didn't know of his capabilities. You could be walking right into a sneaky trap for all you knew. Actually, that was very likely. You could only assume 103 planned to trap any poor unfortunate soul that tried to slip into his cave for safety or rest.
24 hours. If he didn't move during that time, you would head in and see just what was happening for yourself.
With a deadline in mind, you got comfortable in the tree and spent the rest of the night devising a plan while also considering all of the ways it could go wrong.
...
You were woken up by the heat and light of the sun on your face, shining strongly through the gaps in the tree leaves. It seemed you had fallen asleep at some point in your little brainstorming session. You glanced down at the cave entrance below you and scanned the area. It seemed as though nobody had left or entered. Everything around was just as you remembered the previous night.
Well. It was time to stop sitting around, eh?
Just as you were gearing yourself up to drop out of your tree shelter and enter the unknown terrain of the cave, you were startled by the snap of a twig from nearby. You quickly halted all movement and hid yourself as best as you could even going so far as to stifle your breathing. You looked around in the direction of the noise and noticed that there was a big, yellow hat peeking out of the underbrush of the forest. The figure continued moving towards the cave in a slow and steady manner which was promising for you seeing as they didn't even glance in your direction once. You just watched as they move closer and closer to the cave.
Once the figure was directly below you, you noticed that it was someone you recognized from earlier. It was the woman with vivid sea green hair and pink and yellow garments. You couldn't recall her name or number but no matter, you knew she wasn't your target. It was strange though. As she snuck around below you, you could distinctly hear a faint buzz coming from the figure. It was definitely strange but probably not the weirdest thing you've experienced in the exam.
Your eyes followed the figure as she snuck right up to the entrance of the cave. All you could do was watch as she crouched down and pulled a bottle from her pack. She cracked it open and released a gas into the cave. You could see the thick gas fill the cave entrance, likely reaching the occupant inside. With that, you saw her sit back and wait.
