I stare blankly at the devil costume I have on.

"I don't know, Eris. I just can't pull these types of outfits off," I hesitantly murmur out.

"Are you kidding me?" Eris snorts.

"You look hot as hell, literally," she ends in a wink.

The pun did make me feel a little better, I guess.

That is until her words register in my head, and my face reddens so much I can barely distinguish between the red in my costume and my, now scarlet, skin tone.

Why does my body insist on embarrassing me? Although, I guess it's impossible to not blush with her around, especially in the tight angel costume she's wearing.

Even if Eris flirts with me, sometimes that's how girls are. It doesn't mean she likes me. Plus I've never even been with a girl, so I don't know how to make a move on her. I wouldn't even know what to say. She's straight, so there is nothing to say.

My thoughts continue to race until Eris says my name.

"You ready to go? It's almost 10:30," she asks me as she stands.

"Yeah," I try to say, but it only comes out as a whisper. I never wear things that are revealing, and the knot in my stomach isn't one that came from Eris.

My anxiety spikes as I wonder if everyone will make fun of me for this outfit; well, until Eris grabs me by the shoulders.

"Don't be so nervous, Kat. I wouldn't let you go out in something that would get you made fun of," she reassures me with a smile which is absent in her eyes - a common trait of her.

Her smile is so warm and perfect, I don't even acknowledge the doubt in the back of my mind.

"Thank you," I reply, genuine gratitude coursing through my veins at her comforting words.

"Are we ubering or driving?" Eris questions.

"I'm a broke bitch, so..." I draw out, referring to the fact that I should probably drive.

"If we take my car, I won't drink so I'm able to drive us home," I clarify.

"Oh, hell no! I'll buy us an uber. Trust me, you need a few drinks tonight, Kat," she laughs and pulls out her phone.

"What? No! You can't spend money like that, ubers are expensive for like no reason here!"

"I have mommy's credit card though, for situations just like this," she explains with a wink. I watch her open her wallet and three separate debit and credit cards show themselves to me. She holds up a black credit card which looks more expensive than me and giggles.

Oh, she's loaded. I get it now.

We arrive at the party and our uber driver wasn't creepy, God bless. But I already know some of the guys at the party will be.

Entering the mansion, the usual party stenches invade my senses without my consent. Rude.

"Whose house is this?" Eris shouts as we walk inside.

"I have no fucking clue," I answer in a voice barely louder than the music playing. The living room is the source of music, and walking through it might make me go deaf.

I genuinely think I will no longer be able to use my ears after tonight.

I lead Eris to the beer pong table, where I already know Alex will be.
