Zenitsu sat by a flowing creek the sound of rippling water soothing his anxieties and worries away like the current. A cool breeze passing by to give him a full body shiver. But the sunlight shining through the leaves in the forest keeping him warm.
He let out a deep breath.
He had been sent off to scouting around this area as rumors from some mortals had made their way upstairs.
And unfortunately, he had been picked out for the job. He didn't understand why of all the other angels did they have to pick him. Not only was he barely experienced on how to deal with the problem if the rumors turned out to be true, but this was his very first time on mortal grounds.
And by himself.
He was extremely nervous about being alone. But he had a funny feeling that the whole point of this was to get him to be more independent and confident that he could do things himself as a prospective angel.
At least that's what he heard from the sounds that Gramps gave off. He sounded so proud that he got selected for the assignment.
He honestly didn't understand what he saw in him. He cried, whined, and begged not to go, even going so far as to cling on the upper ranked angel Tengen, the one who delivered the information, to consider choosing someone else. Heck, why didn't they choose Kaigaku? He was obviously the more better of the two, and had a years worth of training experience more than him.
He also had been forced to go through the gate to the mortal plane just because he refused to enter it.
"Ugh, this sucks" Zenitsu whined as he tugs his blond locks.
Why did he have to do it?!
He was so useless as an angel, didn't they understand? He didn't even have any powers. Well- he did, but he couldn't use the darn thing! His body just refused to allow him that access whenever he tried.
Another sigh escaped his lips.
He watched with amber eyes as the water flowed down and some dragonflies dipping in different directions in the air.
He really didn't want to go to that area that he was assigned to but he had to, he couldn't let Gramps down after all he's done for him. Besides, he was sure Gramps would have his head if he didn't start moving.
He stood up and took a deep breath in and held it for three seconds before letting it go. He stretched his arms and back, hearing some pops here and there.
Dropping his arms, a foreign feeling pricked at his back. Specifically where his wings would be. He was told he had to keep his wings hidden in case a mortal with a heightened sense of awareness managed to see him. He understood the importance of that, but why was his back so itchy?
Was that ok?
He reached behind his hand to itch the spot. It didn't go away but he was sure he could handle it for awhile. All he had to do was report back if a demon was lurking around or not. He didn't really have to fight it, right?
Right…?
Something at the back of his head told him no.
Grumbling to himself he finally forced his legs to start moving. He was told that the area where he was supposed to look was a small town due north. It wasn't far as mentioned, and it truly was a quaint little town, the rural area quiet to even his ears.
Looking around, everything seemed normal. He hesitantly leaves the brush and walks beside the buildings and shops. He listened carefully to the buzz going on. People talking, dogs barking, birds chirping, music, cheering, laughter, footsteps. There where so many noises going on at once here. It was almost overwhelming.
