Jena was surrounded in darkness, wondering where she could possibly be. She heard an unfamiliar voice speaking.
"Mr. and Mrs. Bradley, Jena's situation is still very precarious. It's been five weeks. If Jena doesn't wake up within the next week, we need to consider pulling her off of life support. I'm so sorry." Jena heard, concluding that she was in a hospital and the sympathetic voice was her doctor. Her mother started sobbing.
"I can't lose my baby, Richard. I can't lose my Jena." Her mother cried. Jena pondered what Death had told her, and realized that he was right. She was needed here at home. How could she be so selfish? She slowly opened her eyes and found herself in a dimly lit hospital room. She looked over to her parents as they sobbed by the door.
"Momma? Is that you?" She croaked, as small tear escaped down her cheek.
"Oh my God! Jena, my baby, you're still here! I'm so sorry, sweetheart. Richard! Go get Dr. Preston! Tell him our baby is awake!" Her mother rejoiced, kissing her face.
"I'm so sorry, Mom. I was so upset that I forgot to think about what would happen to you if I left. I wanted them all to see what they were doing, what they were driving me to. But instead I was letting them win. I need help, Mom. I can't do this by myself. I want to get better. I don't want to be Jumbo Jena anymore." She said tearfully.
"We'll do whatever we can to get you the help you need. We promise, sweetheart." Her dad replied as he walked back in, taking her hand gently.
"Hello, Jena. I'm Dr. Preston. You gave us all quite a scare, you've been unconscious for about 5 weeks. It's going to take awhile for you to fully recover from this, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. But we have high hopes for you. Now let's take a look at the damages. You have 5 broken ribs, your left leg is broken in two places, the femur and fibula, your right arm is fractured at the radius, your left lung was punctured along with some internal bleeding and a concussion. You are very lucky to be alive." He said smiling.
"I'm very happy to be alive, truly." Jena said.
