Jena looked upon Death, as he stared back at her. She smiled with tears cascading down her cheeks. She greeted Death as a friend.
"You're early, my dear." Death finally said.
"I know, but I'm glad I am here. The pain was too much. I just couldn't take it anymore. I needed to see you." She said softly.
"What's wrong, dear one? If you are glad, why do you weep?" Death asked.
"At the pep rally, I was walking up the bleachers and I slipped and fell. I couldn't get back up. Then everyone started laughing at me. Students, teachers, everybody. They wouldn't stop chanting it. Everyone laughed at Jumbo Jena who couldn't get up off the floor." She sobbed.
"I couldn't handle it anymore. So I ran, which made the students laugh harder. I ran to the side of the road and watched as a semi truck came down the road, so I jumped in front of it. I thanked the truck driver as I came to see you. You're the only friend I have." Jena said.
"Jena darling, I know people can be cruel with their words. I feel your pain, and it is like no other pain I have felt. But I'm afraid you cannot stay with me. It's not your time. You have left behind those who love you the most. Your mother, your father, your sisters, they all need you. They all knew something was wrong. Your mother found your blades. She was going to pick you up early and take you to the mall, just you and her. Anna and Kylie were planning a surprise for you when you get home. They gave your room a make over, decorating it with your favorite band posters and writing your favorite lyrics on the walls, framing the picture of you and Andy Biersack and putting on your nightstand. They even painted the Black Veil Brides star logo on your wall above your bed with the words "Never Give In" written below. They need your help to get through middle school. Your dad was even prepping your favorite dinner for you. Shish kabobs with extra vegetables, marinated just how you like. You didn't get to see your acceptance letter to UCLA. Alison from your creative writing class tried to stop you from running into traffic, screaming as she watched it unfold. Her heart is so heavy, she feels as if it her fault. You cannot stay, dear. I'm sorry." Death said.
Jena felt a little guilty about what she had done, but she didn't dare show it.
"Please don't send me back. I'm finally at peace." She pleaded.
"No you aren't. Your family can give you a peace that I cannot. I'll be right here waiting for you, my arms open, when you are 103. You have an incredible life ahead of you. You'll see." Death smiled, wiping the tears from her cheeks. Death's figure faded from sight, and the light surrounding him was gone.
