8. Love In Brighton

Brighton, October, Time 6:11 p.m, Autumn, Temperature 75°F.

Blaire emerged from the water, Edward was surprised she could swim in the water at this time of year, which was pretty cold, the Eevee sighed as she stepped out of the water and kissed Edward on the cheek.

"Whatdya think?" She asked.

"Impressive. I just don't understand how your not cold though" Edward replied.

"Tee hee ~, I like swimming in cold water!" Blaire replied, I believe it strengthens my immune system, I do it once every year, at this time. Ever since I haven't gotten a cold" Blaire explained, he scooted over to one side of the folding chair and gave Blaire her pink star towel.

"Thanks" Blaire replied.

Edward smiled as he watched her dry herself. The Pikachu sighed and asked her a question he had been wanting to ask for a while.

"D-D-D you like world travel?" Edward asked.

Blaire thought it was a silly question, but she answered it anyway, "Yeah, I wanna visit Tokyo. I hear it's really beautiful over there! Especially in the spring!"

"Oh, I was thinking Paris" Edward replied, scratching his head.

"Quel est le problème avec Paris?" Blaire answered in French.

The two had a laugh, then when the laughter stopped, they stood there staring at each other deeply, Blaire knew what happend next, she leaned in and kissed Edward on the mouth, then she pulled away, Edward then kissed her back, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her more roughly. The Eevee wrapped her arms around him doing the same, then they were interrupted...

"Blaire! - Is that you?" A Zorua shouted.

She pulled away from Edward and looked up to see a Zorua running up to her, she immediately pulled Blaire in for a hug, she began sweating nervously. Edward had no idea what was going on so he - well - asked.

"Um Blaire... Who is this?" Edward asked, his head tilted to one side.

"My name is Astrid!" She replied, squeezing Blaire tighter.

Edward noticed her accent, "Um - are you German?"

She laughed a little, "Ja"

Blaire finally pulled free from her grip and hid behind Edward, "Me and her used to go to primary school together before I went to Silverwater. She's very clingy!"

"So what if I am! - Your so pudgy!" She replied.

Blaire punched her in the arm, "Anyway who's this?"

"My boyfriend, this is Edward!" She answered while playing with Edward's face, The Pikachu not caring one bit.

"Oh--- Cool" She replied, then she sighed, but it wasn't a normal sigh and Edward quickly noticed.

"Um are you alright?" He asked as Blaire played around with his left cheek.

"Yeah, I've just been single for a while now?" She replied, she looked down at Blaire who was still playing with Edward's face, "I gotta go, Blaire try and call me sometime"

"Oh sure!" She replied then she pulled Edward in for a kiss. Astrid sighed and looked back at them... She wants to tell Blaire something - but now it was too late to tell her what she wanted to say. So she left.

Later that night, while at Edward's Brighton house not far from the beach the two were cuddling over a movie when Edward heard the doorbell go off.

"Who would want to visit us at this hour?" Edward asked, scratching his head.

"Um I don't know" Blaire replied, sitting up.

The two got up and walked to the door when they opened it, Astrid was standing outside. There was silence for a few seconds.

"Um how did you know I was here?" Blaire asked.

"Um I might have saw you guys walk back here, sorry. Um anyway, can I talk to you Blaire - privately" Astrid asked, her posture nervous and her blue eyes glowing in the moon light.

Edward sighed, they were friends afterall, "Please don't leave the block"

"I won't" Blaire replied.

Then Edward closed the door, the Pikachu was about to walk away, but then remembered her attitude at the beach... And her current attitude now, he layed his ear on the door so he could listen in.

"Brr! Astrid what do you need to tell me, I wanna get back inside! It's really cold!" Blaire whined.

She sighed and began to talk, "I believe we've been friends since we were 3. In the time I've known you have been so nice to me, even when I was mean to you, you were always able to forgive me... I just wanna say thank you - okay?"

"Um I think there's more to it then that Astrid, I don't believe thank you comes next" She replied.

Astrid turned away from her, Blaire tilted her head to one side, "Um are you okay"

The Zorua began crying, Blaire gasped, "A-Astrid... What's wrong?"

"Can't you see?!" She shouted.

"Can I see what?!" Blaire shouted back, she was getting irritated at this point, "What is with you? Ever since like before I changed schools, you've been acting so weird! Awkward phone calls! refusing to answer my texts! What the hell is going on?! You need to tell me Astrid!"

It finally spilled out of the Zorua, "I-I- I'm in love with you!"

Edward's eye twitched.

Blaire flinched, she did not expect to hear that, she covered her face, "I can't have you now because your with somemon else! I was really into you Blaire, I loved you so much!"

"Astrid I-I did not know, but you see I'm with him already, on top of that, I'm not into girls, you know that" Blaire replied, shaking her head afterward, "I understand you have a crush on me and you probably hate my guts now, but I already found somemon. I'm sorry okay?"

Edward's tension released.

"Why?" She whispered her head down low.

"Because I only see you as a friend. I want to continue being your friend, if you let me" Blaire replied.

"I see -" She whimpered, "I-I gotta go!"

"N-No Astrid wait! -"

Then she ran away from her crying and sobbing. Blaire felt bad for putting her in that mood, but she really did love Edward very much and did not ever want to betray him. She was also surprised at the knowledge she acquired on Astrid, she had no clue she was lesbian and she had no idea she even had a crush on her. Blaire sighed and went back inside, the door smacked Edward in the nose, he grunted loudly.

"Somehow I knew you were eavesdropping" Blaire said, crossing her arms.

"Mmm - I didn't like the way she was acting at the beach. The way that bird was behaving was actually pretty noticeable" Edward replied, holding his bleeding nose.

"Uh huh" Blaire answered, the Eevee handing him some tissues for his nose. Edward took them and stuffed them up his nose.

"Come on, let's finish the movie" Edward said, kissing her on the cheek, she giggled.

Later that night as they slept together, Blaire laid wide awake, she couldn't stop replaying the moment between her and Astrid, it made her a little irritated to see her friend cry, but she was already gone and she didn't know where she was. But she did know what she wanted to say when she saw her again...

"I just want you to be my friend" She said to herself.
