Chapter Three

"Rydel" a voice woke her up from a deep sleep.

She had been dreaming about R5 playing Madison Square Gardens one day. It was a dream that she hoped they could soon make a reality.

"Hey sweetie" her mom brushed a golden curl out of her face. "A letter came for you in the mail. I think you might want to read this one."

Her mom handed her the letter, and she flipped it over to look at the sent address. New York City. Who do I know there, she wondered.

She tore the white envelope open and took out the letter inside.

Dearest Rydel Lynch,

We at the Academy of Broadway Performing Arts (a/n - totally made up name!) would hereby like to invite you to audition for our future production of "A Girl of all Colours" as the lead role of Tianna Little.

Your audition will take place on the seventeenth of June of this year at 10:00am. If you are unable to attend your audition, please respond to the email address stated at the end of this letter.

We look forward to seeing you in New York for your audition.

She stared at the piece of paper in her hand, her mouth hanging open. She read it over and over, ensuring her eyes were processing what was really written on the page.

They wanted her to audition for the lead in a broadway production. She couldn't fathom the invitation.

"I didn't even apply" she said, trying to understand how this invitation started.

"I maybe sent in your last solo to the Academy" her mother smiled.

"Mom." Rydel breathed, "You didn't?"

"I did. I know how much you've missed dancing, I wanted to give you a chance to relive your dreams."

Rydel jumped across the bed into her mothers arms. "Thank you. Thank you!" she whispered into her mothers ear.

"Anything for my baby." she hugged her back.

"I have to choreograph a dance" Rydel clued in. "I need one for the audition. That's in two weeks! That's not enough time to prepare for something as big as broadway!"

"Honey, if there is anyone who can accomplish all of this in the next two weeks, it's you. I know you can do it"

She smiled at her mom, thankful for the reassurance. She was right, Rydel had never let a time constraint stop her from dancing her heart out before. And she wasn't going to start now.

She would put together the best dance she had ever performed before. She would dance on that stage. She would get that part. She would live her dream.
