Jaliyah had nothing against maggie except for a little jealousy. Maggie had always been slightly rude to her when they spoke but she thought none of it. They had always been friends.

Jaliyah rose up out of bed, took a shower and put on clothes for school. She was making breakfast when her phone vibrated.

HUSBAND❤️ SENT YOU A MESSAGE.
hey, im gonna pick you up for school. That ok?

She forgot to change his name. She sighed. 'i guess so, im not walking' she typed a simple "okay :)" and changed his name.
BRANDINI SENT YOU A MESSAGE.
Good, be there in five.

She grabbed her bookbag and waited outside until she saw the familiar black car she knew and loved.
She ran up and went to open the passenger seat when- "Yo, im sitting here. Are you fucking dumb?" Jaliyah looked in maggies eyes and tensed up. "Sorry, i was just so used- nevermind." Jaliyah closed the door and got in the back. "Thanks for dropping by Brandon." Jaliyah smiled at the both of them. He looked better than when he was in the hospital. "No problem at all. Maggie even came up with the idea. She said she wanted to pick you up today." Maggje flashed him a quick look of disgust and replaced it with a forced smile. "Yeahhhh..ha ha.." she said through her teeth. Jaliyah was happy, she thought maggie hated her, despised her. Maybe she was wrong!

The car was silent except for the occasianal kissing in the front seat. Jaliyah payed no attention to it, she had headphones in trying to talk to Zion.

"Zi. Why wont you answer?"
"Zi, come on.."
"Bestfriend??!"
"Caleb stop ignoring me! Whatever I did im sorry. Talk to me nigga DAMN."
She gave up texting him and looked up at the worst possible time. Brandon and maggie were kissing AGAIN, and Maggie was staring right at her. She held her phone so tight she almost broke the case. "Hey um, the schools not too far from here. Just a couple minutes. I think im gonna-" Jaliyah got out the car, slammed the door and ran up the street. She didnt hear Brandons yell for her to come back.

she made it to the school, barely having any breath to talk. She walked into the school, ignoring the looks she got. She walked to her locker and put all her things away, until she saw Zion. Talking to Amelia. 'Now's my shot.'
She sped past strangers she didn't know and walked up to Amelia and Zion. "Hey Liyah!" Amelia smiled brightly. Zion looked at her and tried walking away until she grabbed his arm. "We are bestfriends. Have been since third grade. We tell each other everything. So talk to me, im not letting you get away. I love you, Caleb." He paused and slightly turned around. "We can talk, at free period." He did a small smile and pulled away. "Meli" "Right!" Amelia scurried off behind him. 'The fuck-'

RIIIIIIING!

Well there goes the bell.

You said, hey girl will you sit with me?
Jaliyah walked to lunch, and she saw Maggie hurrying at her locker. She skipped to her and tapped her shoulder. "Hey, maggie! Wanna sit with me at lunch?" Maggie looked at her like she was disgusting. "No." and then replaced it with a silly face. "Just kidding, okay." Jaliyah nodded. "Great." She dragged Maggie to the lunch room where all the loud chattering came from.
Table in the back of of Cafeteria C?

Jaliyah and Maggie had a great conversation, like true friends. Jaliyah finally felt welcomed by Maggie for the first time. But she didn't know if this would last forever.

We could be friends if you want to be. But only til the clock hits three.

Lunch was over. Jaliyah and maggie threw their trays away and before she could run off Jaliyah stopped her. "We have the same class. Want to walk?" Maggie actually smiled. "Kay."
After lunch we can walk to class, talk about the boys that we want to smash.

"Imagine smashing Brandon. A dream come true." Maggie smirked and Jaliyah scowled. "I don't know.." Maggie looked at her blank. "You mean you- Choose. Would you rather smash Brandon or Zion." Jaliyah was taken back. She answered all her questions seriously so it took some time. Brandon, she used to be in love with. But she got over him or atleast tried to, to be a good friend for maggie. They had been together for two years and it was one of the best relationships shes had. But Zion, he was her bestfriend. He knows her more than anybody else, she did used to have a crush on him but not anymore. Right? He always treated her with care, knew how to make her laugh and always knew when to stop before the jokes hurt her feelings. He was the cause of her laughter and her smiles most of the times. He was also very nice and had good manners and a pretty smil- No. He's your bestfriend. She looked at Maggie who was eager for her response. She answered truthfully. "Zion." Maggie was smiling even wider now. "Great answer! were here, talk to you later." Maggie walked in and sat at her seat. Jaliyah slid into her desk. She hoped they talked later too.
After that, i'll ignore your ass.

Jaliyah was writing in the lunchroom in a corner while everyone else went to their friends. She had to finish this essay before she failed it. She wanted to get into a good ass college, not be a bum. The popular girls were walking in her direction and she froze. 'The fuck is going on?'
Veronica, the meanest girl of the school was looking at her.
"Jaliyah! My great friend. I heard you liked Zion? Is that true. Someone told me you wanted to smash him." Veronica smiled like she won the lottery when Jaliyah's jaw dropped. She couldn't even pick it up. "What? No! I don't-"
Veronica giggled. "It's okay to admit it. Y'all would be cute, if I didn't like him. So stay away." Veronica's smiled dropped into a glare. Jaliyah got up and looked past her and watched a minion of Veronicas telling Zion something in his ear. He looked as if he didn't care. He walked outside and Jaliyah followed him. "Sorry Veron- i'll be back" she walked outside and sat next to Zion on the bench. "Talk."
"I was mad at you. For defending Brandon in that hospital. You didn't realize we only got into A fight was because I found out he cheated AND broke up with you. I did it for you. I wouldn't let him do my bestfriend like that, yet you still defended him. Someone who hurt you. You went to him first without even knowing what happened. You chose him over me, I've known you longer. It wasn't fair to me." Zion mumbled, rubbing his busted knuckles. Jaliyah took all that in and her eyes went wide. "I'm.. i'm sorry. You're right. I should have waited for the story to be told, and I shouldnt have told you to apologize, either. I hope you can forgive me.. but why did you do it?"

"Because I love you." Jaliyah's heart pounded. He what? Did he mean it in a friendly way or a- "You're my bestfriend. I was required to." His dreads shook after he turned his head. "We, the boys are going out for ice cream. Want to come?" Jaliyah took a moment to calm down and nodded her head.

"Great. See you then." he kissed her cheeks as he normally does and walked back into the school. She didn't know why but this time, the kiss lingered in her mind.
