The blonde haired girl walked home with the biggest smile, a true smile on her face. Boris. His name was Boris. Fern didn't know why but she felt sparks around him, big sparks. Like fireworks on the Fourth of July, exploding in the night sky.

She turned the doorknob to her house softly and carefully to not wake up her dad. She walked in to see the way older man standing at the doorway, frowning.

"Where were you?" He asked sternly, after not receiving an answer he asked again "Where were you?!"

"Out." Fern spoke barely above a whisper.

All of a sudden she felt a hot hand smack across her cheek, leaving a red mark. "BULLSHIT!" He screamed throwing the closest thing to him, a shoe at his only child.

She ducked and dashed to her room locking the door behind her but that didn't stop her dad, who was currently banging on the door screaming "Get you're ass out here now! Or so help me I will kill you!"

Fern's smile was replaced with tears, 'god damnit Fern what made you think Boris is even gonna help you.' She put her head in her knees and sat and cried. She didn't breath heavily or have a whole river of tears roll down her eyes, instead it was a quiet cry, a simple cry. It was quiet but those are the worst ones because those are the ones that are the hardest, they take the most energy and pain in order to produce the feelings she felt. She fell asleep crying that night like every other night ever.

The curly haired boy walked home with the biggest smile, a true smile on his face. Fern. Her name was Fern. A very pretty name. He didn't know what came over him a few minutes ago, it was as if when he saw her his whole view on life changed. He needed to help her and he knew exactly how.

While walking down the alley to get home he ran into a familiar face, the face he had grown to love. Kotku. Kaleigh her real name was Kaleigh, but she loved cats so Boris always called her Kotku. Her long, soft blonde hair hung down her shoulders, and her blue eyes were like an ocean he found himself drowning in them on more than one occasion.

"Kotku wait!" He yelled as she walked away. She turned around displaying an annoyed look on her face. "I'm sorry, you mean the world to me and I shouldn't have ignored you I love you and I'm deeply sorry."

"Well Boris you should have thought about that before, now if you excuse me Chasen is waiting for me." She uttered.

"Who's Chasen?"

"Someone who will treat me way better than you." She turned around flicking her long hair at Boris.

Boris sighed and thought 'you should have done it you and Fern would be a lot happier' Than it hit him, he knew exactly how to make Fern happy it was the same way his mom always helped him. Take her to Phoenix.

But little did he know that was not going to happen.
