(Percy POV)

Everyone followed me on their bikes, looking quite uneasy. I approached the cliff, and then motioned Kyu and HC over. I pointed to the top, they looked at me confused. I stood again and grabbed the concrete and hauled myself up enough to see the parking lot covered in those things once more. They followed, struggling since they are shorter than me. I let go once more, almost falling again. They both finally hauled themselves up enough to see.
"Holy-" They whispered in unison, letting go, and falling. They both stood once more and dusted themselves off. 
"Lets ditch the whole find my parents plan for now.." Kyu says, glancing back over at the cliff. We all hopped back on our bikes, Imara getting back on my shoulders, and rode farther into the forest. After maybe 5 minutes of riding we encountered a tree house, old and creaky. I point up to it and we all pull over. I place my bike down, letting Imara down. 2 more of those things emerged from the forest, stumbling over their feet clumsily. HC quickly pulled out her gun, but i quickly motioned for her not to, and reached into my backpack grabbing out the bat. One of them approached quicker than the other, trying to grab me. I quickly whacked it in the face with the bat, it fell to the ground, showing no sign of being alive. The other one inched closer, causing it to eat the bat as well. I turned back around to face everyone, pointing at the tree house ladder. 
"Shall we stay there for tonight?" I ask, glancing around. Everyone collectively nods, looking quite tired. I put my bike down and start climbing up the ladder, checking to make sure it was stable. I reach the top then motion for everyone its safe to come up. Imara is first, followed by Meri, followed by Kyu, then finally HC. I place my backpack down on the far left side of the fort. 
"Alright," I start, taking a seat, soon joined by everyone else, "good first few days, how are you guys feeling?" I finish, It's best to have them in the best mood possible. Everyone just kinda sighs, obviously too tired to talk. 
"G'night nerds. Don't die."

HC, as I expected, was the first awake. This whole thing took a huge toll on her, so the fact she had trouble sleeping wasn't surprising. What was surprising was that she was pacing, and didn't seem to be stopping, except for occasionally running her fingers through her hair. I slowly get up and stretch. HC bolts towards me, panic in her eyes.
"The bikes. They're gone." She basically whisper yells, tears threatening to spill. I give her a confused and scared look.
"The bikes we risked our god damn lives for up and poofed out of existence!" At this point she's yelling; I place my hand on her shoulder. 
"Everything will be fine, we can find more, or we can find a car or something." I whisper, giving her a small smile. Everyone else starts getting up due to the yelling, sharing confused stares. 
"The bikes are gone." I say facing everyone. They get up quite surprised, and I go pack up all my stuff and shove it in my backpack. Everyone does the same, worried and confused looks followed them.
"What are we going to do now that our bikes are gone?" Meri speaks up, eyes wide with fear. I glance back at her, and shrug giving a small smile. I go down first, holding the bat in one hand. I get down to the very bottom and signal that it's safe to come down, then turn to look for any of those things. Everything is eerily quiet, just like the same morning when I woke up, but I guess that's expected at this point. 
"We should try and get a car." Kyu says shoving her hands in her hoodie pockets, glancing around. I nod, leading the way back to the cliff, keeping as quiet as physically possible. Kyu , HC, and I lift ourselves to see over the cliff, scoping out the best car. I point to an old green and gray station wagon, then back at Kyu and HC. They give a nod, then let go; I turn back to Meri and Imara.
"Alright, theres a gray and green station wagon up there, that's where we are trying to get to." I say getting down to their level. They nod, and we all share a glance. I hand Imara the bat and walk back to the cliff, lifting myself up and over onto the asphalt, having the bat handed back to me. I place it down next to me and help each person up, then hand Imara the bat. She gives me a small smile, and I smile back. I pull out my gun, and face everyone.
"Alright that car," I say pointing to the car, "is the car we're after, get there and get in as soon as possible, and if you must beat up some of those creatures." I whisper. I slowly count to 3 using my fingers, then we make a bolt for it. Those creatures, being everywhere, notice us and start coming towards our group. I reach the car followed by Kyu, who slides over the hood, and gets in the passengers seat. Meri, followed by Imara hopped in the back seat. I glance around. Oh fuck where's HC?? I glance back out the window, there's HC surrounded by those things, they're clawing her, biting at her, and doing anything to try and get to her. Everyone stares in horror as I reach for my door, and as soon as I touch the cold metal, one of the things bit into HC's arm. I feel an arm on my shoulder before I open the door. 
"It's too late-" Kyu sobs, still staring at her in complete shock. My hand slowly leaves the door, and my eyes fall to the floor. I turn back to face Meri, and I feel tears brimming my eyes.
"I'm so sorry.."
