When Worlds Collide~

Chapter 6

Harry•

I heaved open the heavy door to the Potions room and looked around. Snape wasn't here yet, apparently. Thank god.

But just as we were putting our bags down, lo and behold, Snape stalked out of the walk-in ingredients cupboard.
"Decided to grace us with your presence, Mr Potter?"

I glowered down at my parchment and sat down. Percy had the sense to stay quiet as well.

Snape smiled coldly. "Would you mind telling us what was so important as to why you three are late?"

Three? Was Percy nonexistent, or free of blame?

"Sorry," Percy said, leaning back on his chair. "My bad. I was talking with them about- yeah."

"Well, Jackson, I suggest next time speaking with your - friends - after classes?" said Snape, raising an eyebrow. "Also, your top button needs to be done up."

I frowned at Percy. "Why aren't you getting in trouble? We would have normally gotten detention for being late."
"He's in on the thing."
"What- oh. Yeah." My irritation somewhat disappeared. Hey, it got us out of a detention, which was always good...
"I don't know why we haven't ended up with detention though," said Ron.
Unfortunately, Snape, who happened to be passing by heard it.

"Well, Weasley, maybe it would do you good to be grateful for the fact that you don't have detention, lest I decide to give you one anyway," snapped Snape.
Ron slumped down in his seat, grumbling under his breath as Snape walked away to terrorize Sean.

Percy leaned over to me. "What's his problem?"
Hermione glanced up from her notes. "He favors the Slytherins. The Gryffindors... Not so much."

"Slytherins? Gryffindors?"

"School houses." Ron explained. "Harry, Hermione and me are in Gryffindor. Thankfully, we don't have a lesson with the Slytherins today. They're Ravenclaws," he nodded at the other students across the room.

"Most of them are pretty decent," I said. "And they're really brainy to boot."

"How many, uh, houses do you even have?"
"Four," said Hermione. "Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin. Us Gryffindors have these red and gold ties, as you can see, and the Slytherins have the green ones-"

"Hermione," Ron cut in, "let's not overload him with information, shall we?"
"You're one to talk, Ronald Weasley-"

"Shh, Snape's coming," I hissed.

Ron looked dismayed. "Again? I swear, he just wants to have an excu-"

"Weasley, you have provided me with more reason than necessary to give you detention. Late, talking during class... Why, you have yet to even note down what I have told you about the properties of Boomslang skin. Ten points from Gryffindor. You too, Potter."

I opened my mouth to protest, but Percy beat me to it.

"It's not really their fault, sir," said Percy. "It's mine. They were telling me a few things I needed to know. So yeah, lay off them a bit, yeah?"

Snape looked up from one of the Slytherin's potion.

"Jackson," he hissed, "I am trying to be lenient with you, given the circumstances. Unfortunately, you are making this rather difficult. Stay behind afterwards, I'd like to speak with you. Not another peep from you."

Percy opened his mouth to protest, but I nudged his foot and muttered, "Don't. It's not worth it. I'd know."

It was hard for me too, hearing the quiet snickers from the gits on the other side of the room.

Percy•

"You guys just wait outside, all right?" I said.
"You sure?" Ron said incredulously. "You might have a chance of not dying, seeing as you're new, but..."

I laughed quietly. "I'm definitely not new to nearly dying. I'll be fine."

Still, the prolonged, painful creaking of the door hinges and the loud slam of the closing door was like an ominous signal of a painful demise. I stared wistfully at it, wondering if I could make a break for it.

Hey there again! Um the thing where I update about half a chapter then write the other half of it worked well for me, so I might do it that way from now on.

Oh, and also, if there's a storyline you want to read (and if you think I could pull it off haha) maybe I could write a book like that? I need some variety here, guys! Fanfiction is preferable, but I don't know...
