Draco:

"Leave it Pansy I'm not in the mood," You warned walking down the halls with her close behind you. She was trying to get your Potions homework so she could copy it down, you'd normally let her but today you just weren't in the mood. You wanted everyone to leave you alone and not talk to you for a while.
"Pansy! I said no!" You yelled stopping dead still in the middle of the halls and turning to look at her, she stopped an inch away from you and grumbled something, storming off and heading towards your shared Dorm room. You rolled your eyes heading to the Great Hall to get some food.

You were sitting at the slytherin house table, food on your plate and everyone around you laughing and joking with one another. You poked the mash potato that was in front of you with a fork before sighing and getting up from the table.
"Where are you going?" Blaise asked looking away from his conversation with Crabbe and Goyle, you pulled the strap of your bag over your head and looked over at the door.
"Last minute study session in the library." You lied, he was shaking his head and handing you an apple from the middle of the table.
"Make sure you eat." You nodded shoving the apple into your already full bag and heading out the door towards the Astronomy tower, you passed the golden trio on your way and then Fred and George who looked like they were planning a new prank which you wanted no part in.

You were laying on the Astronomy tower floor looking up at the sky when you heard the door creak open, you ignored it continuing to look at the stars thinking it would just be a professor or another student, maybe even Pansy if she was that desperate to get her homework done that night, you thought nothing of it till someone sat down next to you, you looked down to see Draco staring at you, you gave him a questioning look before sitting up, pulling your robes over you.
"What?" You asked, feeling a little uncomfortable with him staring at you intensely.
"Blaise said you didn't eat at dinner." You should have known, Blaise always goes running to Draco, every single thing you do get reported back to him, why wouldn't it? You only dated for a year and a half before he broke up with you for seemingly no reason.
"Blaise needs to learn to shut his mouth." You scoffed standing up and going over to the railing of the tower looking out at the school grounds and up at the starry sky.
"He's just looking out for you." Draco protested following you over, standing so close you could practically feel his breathing on the side of your face, you stepped away from him, the smell of him sending memories flooding back into your mind. All those days you would spend here together, the secret dates you would have snuggled up under the stars, him telling you about what the different phases of the moon meant, falling asleep and being caught up here by Professor McGonagal, every single memory creeping it's way back inside.
"It's not his job to do that any more." You snapped harshly at him,
"It's none of their jobs remember, tell Pansy to leave me alone while you're at it. I knew it was weird how nice she was being lately." You shoved his arm away as he went to take hold of your hand. You stormed towards the door picking up your bag as you went when the door slammed shut locking from the outside.
"They're out there?!" You yelled turning to look at Draco who looked just as shocked as you did, he came bounding wand out at the ready.
"alohomora," But the lock didn't budge, the handle was still too stiff to move.
"Blaise, Pansy if it's you, get me the fuck out of here now!" You growled banging your fists on the door, you heard muffled laughter before footsteps moved away from the door. You kicked it, dropping the bag onto the floor and sliding down it, pulling your knees into your chest.

Draco and you had been stuck in the room for two hours now, it was mostly silent except for when you turned a page in your book or made notes with your quill, you made use of your time being trapped to do some work, while Draco spent his time watching you. The way your brows would knit together every time you got to a hard question, or the way you would inhale deeply as you finished writing a paragraph, he even noticed the proud little smile you had when you finished one piece of homework and moved onto the next. All the things he'd never noticed before because he was too blind to see it,
"Malfoy if you keep staring I'm going to blind you." You whispered looking up from the book, he was still staring right at you. You rolled your eyes going back down to the book, your stomach growling as you did so. Fucking Blaise. You thought taking out the apple from your bag and sinking your teeth into it. He watched you do this, smiling as he watched you eat. It was a simple thing but he liked to make sure you were eating and staying healthy. He'd asked Blaise and Pansy to both keep an eye on you, make sure you stayed on top of work and ate enough after your breakup, it wasn't that he didn't love you, Merlin no, he loved you so much and that's why he broke up with you.

He knew what was coming, what he had to do. He knew that you couldn't be around when it came down to it, he didn't want you to be in the aim of fire or to have He-who-must-not-be-named knowing who you are and what you are to him, the love of his life, everyone would use that against him and although it almost killed him to let you go, he did it for your own good...but he would never tell you that.

The day he did it you remember vividly like a movie in your head, you remember the facial expressions, the words, the way your heart felt as the words left his lips. You felt shattered, you wanted to just die on the spot after he left. You collapsed onto the floor of the library wanting to scream out but nothing left your mouth, you couldn't even make a sound.

"I don't love you. I never have and I never will. You were just some silly little game." Was all you could hear whenever you looked at him, he was staring up at the sky and you were watching him, you did always love the way he would get happy around the stars, he never showed anyone but you what he was like but he really did love the stars, moons and planets. You remember the night he told you about the sun and moon love story.
"The Sun and moon fell in love." You heard Draco say from the railing, you looked up from the floor and stared at him, he was staring up at the moon and resting his chin on the metal railing.
"They travelled the world together." You said back, putting down your books and walking over to him, you never could resit this one, you never could and he knew that.
"He loved her so much, he died every night to let her breathe." He finished, your hand was resting on the railing looking up at the moon.
"What a stupid Moon, killing himself for someone else's pleasure." Draco stared at you, you'd never reacted like that before whenever he told you the story, you always said it was so romantic to sacrifice himself for the one he loved.
"What? The moon decides that because he loves the sun so much he's going to do anything to make sure she can have her time out? No, it's worse than Romeo and Juliet." You scoffed forgetting for a moment that you weren't here as boyfriend and girlfriend, he laughed along with you and you smiled at him, before the words came rushing back and you looked at the floor.

"You need to know something," Three hours and counting of being locked in the room, you were at least sitting at the railings together looking at the sky, you were doing your Astronomy homework, fitting place and you asked him questions you needed help with, like you used to do.

"What?" You asked putting down the quill and looking at him, it was getting easier to do now, it felt like old times. Just sitting together, doing homework and joking, of course you still got the ping of hurt sometimes.

"When I-What I said to you in the library that night." You looked down at your fingers playing with them and looking anywhere but at him.

"I didn't mean it...I said it so you would go off, leave me alone. Get a better life without me. I can't explain it right now but I want you to know so you don't hate me for the rest of your life, or mine, that I love you. I always have and I always will until the day I die, but I can't have you getting hurt because of me." You blinked at him not knowing what to say to him, you tried to think of something but you had nothing to say.

"What do you mean? You were my better life. You made my life better." You stuttered out shaking your head, you were leaning your back against the wall pulling your knees into your chest.

"You were my everything Draco, I love you and now...You tell me that you love me too and that what you said wasn't true?" He nodded making his way over to you, you were shaking your head and he just grabbed your hand, placing it on his chest.

"Look at me, I did it for your own good but hearing what you said about that stupid sun and moon story I tell you...I know that I was wrong." You stood up moving away from him and trying to think straight for a minute.

"What are you trying to protect me from?" You quizzed turning to face him, he was already staring at you.

"I can't tell you, but you have to trust me that not knowing is better for you." You thought about it for a second biting hard on you lip. Could you trust him?

"Okay." You whispered, he pulled you into his chest breathing in your scent and closing his eyes, your arms wrapped around his back and you breathed in his scent, you missed this. You missed the way he would hold you.
"But Draco." You added, pulling away and looking over at the door.
"Get us out of here please."
