"Morning Steve" I greeted falling into step with the boy as we entered the school. "Hi Piper" he whispered back, the usually happy male sad and withdrawn. "Heard anything from Nancy?" I asked quietly stopping with him at his locker "She's avoiding me. I tried talking to her three different times and got nothing" he admitted making me frown "I'm sorry Steve" I whispered leaning in to hug him "PIPSQUEAK!" a gruff voice yelled from the other end of the hallway, there was anger laced in the nickname and it made me pale wondering what people had told him now. "I gotta go" I mumbled giving Steve one last squeeze before heading towards my own locker and the blonde who was leaning against it with a frown. "What's wrong with you?" I questioned feeling the anger radiating off of him from a half a dozen feet away. "Oh my god." I gasped quickening my pace until I was right beside him and could inspect the black eye and cut in his eyebrow. "What the hell happened to your face?" I wondered quietly wiping a speck of blood from his face. "Fight" he grunted turning to open his locker making me snort "No shit dingus. With who?" I mumbled pulling out my books for the first few classes. "Drop it Piper" he grumbled blue eyes flashing dangerously as he looked at me. Nodding slowly I gave in to his demands "Fine, I'll drop it. For now" I bargained "But one day Hargrove, you'll come to me crying about how you got your ass kicked and I'll kindly patch up all your owwies" I assured closing my locker and beginning the walk to math. "I don't get my ass kicked" he mumbled falling into step with me just before we entered the room and headed for my seat. "So the other guy looks worse?" I broached watching as his smirk flipped into a frown "Well no" I cut him off "So you sir, can get your ass kicked" I nodded once going quiet as he glared at me for real. "Okay, okay. I'll stop" I appeased the man holding my hands up in surrender and going silent as class started. "Hargrove" I whispered reaching over and gently smacking him "If you ever need a place to crash the spare key is under the plant by the door" I mumbled picking up my things and heading out the door for my next class.

"Ow Billy what the fuck" I groaned as he shoved me into the locker bay as he walked past to get his books for our last class. Rubbing my back I closed my locker and turned to look at him "Seriously? Nothing. You're just gonna shove me and ignore me?" I sighed looking at him rolling my eyes in irritation as he turned and walked away without a word "It's okay, I'll close your locker for you" I called closing and locking it before I walked away wanting to get through my last class without any more incidents. I had no idea what the man's problem was but it was seriously irritating and not something I wanted to deal with. "Can you fucking stop" I growled turning around to face Billy and glaring at the smug look on his face as he continued to kick my seat. "Can you stop being a bitch? And a slut?" he asked lowly leaning forward until our faces were less than an inch apart. "Whatever Hargrove." I sighed turning around and doing my best to ignore him the rest of the time. By the time the bell finally rang my midsection was sore from hitting my desk with the force he was kicking the seat and my scalp was nearly on fire from him pulling on the long strands. I shot up from my seat and nearly ran from the room to get away from the blonde at least for a short time, there wasn't much I could do at our lockers except hopefully be fast enough to be done and gone by the time he caught up. My thoughts were cut short as a rough hand grasped my bicep tightly "Trying to run from me Pipsqueak?" Billy grunted now pulling me down the hallway with him to our lockers. "Yes as a matter of fact I am. You've been nothing but an asshole to me today for absolutely no reason" I snapped ripping my arm from his grasp and walking the last few feet by myself. Slamming my locker door open I shoved all of my things inside and slammed it shut again ready to leave and go have fun with Steve. I was actually excited and pretty giddy about the idea of hanging out with him, just the two of us like old times.

"I don't need your pity" Billy growled slamming me back first into my locker making me whimper, already sore from the first time earlier today. "I didn't fucking give you pity" I exclaimed trying to push him backwards "The key thing" he prodded making me groan "That wasn't pity you asshole, that was me being nice and knowing sometimes shit goes down and you need a spot to stay." I snapped shoving him off of me and moving to walk away. "I'm not a charity case for you Piper" he shouted making me roll my eyes in irritation "Think what you want Hargrove. I was trying to be a good friend." I called back jogging out the doors and over to where Steve was waiting at his car "Ready to go?" he questioned opening the door for me, my eyes darting up to see Billy stomping out of the school "Yeah, I can't wait for our first sleepover in forever" I teased slipping inside, opening the window and letting the wind blow through my hair as we pulled out of the parking lot. Pulling a cigarette out of his pack I dug in my backpack for my lighter coming up empty handed "Here" Steve offered handing me his, a cigarette dangling out of his mouth as I lit my own and passed the lighter back to him. "Your hair is still stupid" I commented grinning at the look he threw my way "Shut up Piper" he shot back making me snort and giggle. "I'm sorry that you actually think it's attractive" I teased inhaling deeply and exhaling the smoke out the window as we pulled into his driveway. "Let me guess, you find curly mullets attractive" he shot back making me laugh loudly "No but the abs attached to the kid with the mullet is worth the shitty hair" I grinned following him out of the car. "Wow, all you care about is the muscles huh" he smirked flicking his cigarette away mine following as I followed him into the house. "Of course not. If that was it we'd have been together ages ago" I shrugged casually hiding a smirk at the look of shock on his face. "He's gotta make me laugh, be able to hold a decent conversation." I shrugged dropping my backpack by the couch before I flopped down with him. "So he has to have looks and substance? I'll come visit you when you're a crazy cat lady" he laughed making me groan as I smacked him.

"I hate cats" I laughed pulling out my books to get started on my homework. "So you and Hargrove" he broached as we both worked on our respective assignments. "What about us?" I asked looking over at him before turning back to my paper. "I saw you last night, outside the party. You looked happy" he sighed making me snort "He drove me home last night, we sat in his car and talked. It was nice" I whispered fiddling with my pencil before I turned and looked at him. "You have more classes with him than I do. What's he like at school?" I asked only having Geometry and English with the new kid. "Surprisingly quiet" he shrugged turning to look back at me. "During class he pretty much keeps his mouth shut and does the work. He aced our test in Chemistry this morning and missed most of the unit" he shrugged "He's a loud mouth asshole during lunch and gym." He grunted making me smile "So in the hallways, at lunch and in gym he's the same as outside of school" I laughed leaning back into the couch "Maybe not. He seems different with you. The way he smiles at you, it's not the same as the others. It's an actual smile not a creepy perverted smile" he returned making me smile once again. "Okay enough about Hargrove and relationships. Let's get this shit done so we can watch movies and stay up way too late for a school night" I grinned turning back to my English paper trying to get the words and idea from my head and onto paper, struggling slightly in doing so. Pushing forward it was only a matter of time before we were sitting on the couch with pizza, chips, popcorn, pop and in pajamas. I had borrowed a t-shirt and pair of pajama pants from the boy curling up on the couch as he put in Alien and sat beside me. "I'm glad we decided to do this" I admitted lowly "Me to Pip, I missed spending time with you." He returned quietly throwing his arm around my shoulders as we went silent and watched the movie.
