"Hey buddy, do you remember me?" I asked quietly crouching at Will's side now that he had woken up from the drug induced slumber the doctor's had put him in. "Yeah, you're my big sister Piper" he mumbled easily making me smile as I leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "Exactly. How you feeling?" I whispered holding his hand tightly as Bob held Joyce and Hopper squeezed my shoulder, Mike holding Will's other hand. "Everything hurts" he whispered back letting his head rest against the pillow as he looked around the room, stopping on Bob in confusion. "Who is that?" he asked quietly, his question leaving me floundering for an answer "This is Bob, he's your mom's boyfriend" I finally answered receiving a small nod before his eyes fluttered shut. "It's not uncommon for kids his age to forget certain things in times of high stress" Dr. Owens announced from the corner of the room. "Will he remember eventually?" Bob asked softly collapsing into the chair with his head in his hands. "Usually yes, now Hopper if you might. I have something to show you" the doctor announced gesturing for Hopper to follow him. "I wonder if they're getting ready to destroy it" Joyce asked quietly sitting on the arm of the chair Bob was in. "I hope so. I want everything to go back to normal" Mike whispered wrapping his thin arms around my waist and burying his head in my chest. "You and me both kiddo." I sighed resting my cheek on the top of his head and closing my eyes. When I woke up this morning and looked at the peacefully sleeping face of Billy I never imagined the day would turn into this. I wondered what he would think if he walked into the house and I still wasn't home, after disappearing for the entire day without an explanation I knew he'd be upset. I hoped it wasn't too bad because like I had told him that night in the Camaro I had secrets I couldn't tell and this secret could very well make or break the possibility of our relationship going anywhere in the future.

"It's a trap" Mike said suddenly, my head popping up the same time Joyce and Bob turned to look at him in confusion. "The gate, it's a trap" he shouted running for the door I shook my head free of the confusion and took off after him both of us freezing as sirens wailed and red lights began to flash. "It's too late" Mike whispered turning to me with wide eyes, the sounds of screams and screeching wafting through the doors and into my ears. "Get back in the room" Hopper shouted bursting through the doors at the end of the hall with Dr. Owens right behind him. Both men pausing to barricade it shut before continuing towards us. "Back in the room now" Hopper ordered pushing both of us back the direction we had come. "Late, late, late, late" Will was muttering with a smile on his face "What's going on?" Joyce questioned as the lights went off and Will began to scream. "Knock him out Doc." Hopper ordered the screams dying out as I'm assuming the doctor drugged him once again. "Hopper?" Bob questioned all of us waiting to hear what happened. "They opened the gate to try and burn it from the inside out and they came rushing out. They're everywhere and they're hungry. We need to get out of here now" Hopper explained as the backup generator kicked in and the bare minimum lights turned on his expression grim. "It's locked down, we'll have to get to the control room and turn the power back on before we can get out" Dr. Owens informed making me groan "Where is the control room?" I questioned lowly crossing my arms over my chest "The fourth floor" Dr Owens whispered. "Okay, we're on the second floor right now. So we need to go up two floors and then back down four to get out" Joyce nodded making me frown "There's no way we'll all make it" I whispered flinching at the glare Hopper sent my way. 'She's right. A group this size with someone having to carry Will. We'll be too slow and obvious" Mike piped up "How hard is it to turn the power back on?" Bob asked suddenly standing up from his chair in the corner "a couple steps on the mainframe computer." Owens replied, I paced back and forth deep in thought. "The cameras should still be working right? So if you can get to the security room and walk me through the building to the control room and walk me through how to turn it on." I turned and looked at the doctor.

"You can't go off alone" Joyce cried making me sigh "Hopper is the only one strong enough to carry Will. You guys need to be at the door and ready to leave when they open." I snapped hands on my hips as she sighed in resolution "I'll go with. I can't shoot or fight but the controls to get the power back up are pretty basic" Bob offered up quietly "Alright. Everyone get ready to move" Hopper growled picking up Will and heading out the door. "That door" Dr. Owens whispered pointing towards one marked Security. Closing us inside I turned around and was met with a handgun in my face "Take this, you're going to need it" Hopper whispered before he moved to Bob and placed a microphone and ear piece on the man. "Alright, the cameras are up. The stairwells and this floor are clear at the moment. Hopper it looks like you guys will have a clear shot to the front" Owens announced "Everybody ready?" the Chief asked looking around the room "Nope" I replied everyone going silent as we headed into the hall and to the stairs. "Alright you both know what you have to do" Hopper whispered head on a swivel as we stood in the spot we would part ways. "Be careful Piper. I don't want to lose you" he whispered pulling me into a tight hug Will's body smooshed between us "I will be" I whispered the blue eyes of Billy flashing through my mind as I pulled away. "Head on a swivel. Always be ready" Hopper grunted pulling the gun he had taken around to his front. "We'll see you downstairs" I nodded before heading up the stairs while he took Mike and Joyce and headed down them. "Okay, stay close" I whispered as we pushed through the door to the fourth floor. "Keep going straight. He said the hallway to the control room is clear" Bob informed going silent again as we picked our way down the hallway littered with dead bodies. My foot hit a puddle of blood and I slipped slightly catching my balance just as a shriek sounded from down the hall. "There's a closet get in it" Bob panicked opening the door and shoving us both inside. I was sure my heartbeat could be heard thundering through the room as the click of claws and the soft sound of screeching passed us. "Okay its gone" Bob assured opening the door and starting back on our journey only to whip around and look behind me wide eyed.

"Run" I shouted shoving Bob forward not needing to turn around to know the creature was running back towards us lunging at the last second for whoever was closer, the teeth piercing into the soft flesh of my leg. I screamed out in pain as I fell to the floor the monster latched onto my thigh with a tight grip that I couldn't kick off. "Piper!" Bob shouted followed by a gunshot as the dog released and I was able to kick it away getting to my feet with the help of adrenaline and rushing to Bob who closed the door behind me separating us from the beast. "Oh fuck" I whimpered pulling my shirt off and ripping it into two chunks placing the first part over the wound and then using the other part to tie it tight a small whine leaving my lips at the pain. "Get the power on" I gasped leaning against the wall fighting a wave of tears as he clicked away at the computer. "Alright, power is up and running" Bob spoke quietly walking back over to me, picking the gun back up I tested my weight on my leg and hissed knowing it was going to be incredibly painful and difficult to get out of here with the blood already soaking through my t-shirt bandage and jeans. "Let's go" I nodded throwing my right arm around his shoulder and holding the gun in my left hand tightly. I wasn't nearly as proficient at shooting with my left hand but I could still give it an effort if it meant us getting out alive. I shook my head fighting the woozy feeling as we headed down the stairs for the lobby. We needed to rendezvous with Hopper, Mike, Will and Joyce at the front doors and get out of this hell hole. I stumbled and nearly knocked both Bob and I down the stairs before he gathered himself and righted us. "Sorry" I gasped trying to fight through the amount of pain radiating out of my leg and the black spots dancing at the edge of my vision. I thought last year's bite hurt but that was nothing compared to the force behind this new things bite. "It's alright Piper. You focus on staying awake. I'll get us out of here" he whispered back squeezing my hand tightly as he pretty much carried me down the remaining stairs and through the door into the lobby.

"Go on" he nodded pushing me towards Joyce who was waving us forward her eyes widening at the state of me. I heard the monsters and before I could pull Bob out of the way or push him towards safety it was too late they had slammed through the door. "No" I screamed out watching as multiple monsters tackled Bob, his blood spraying this way and that as they continued to bite him, his screams and Joyce's screams winding together to fill the lobby. I stumbled once again as Hopper tugged on my arm roughly pulling Joyce and I outside to see Jonathon carrying Will over to his running vehicle. "Go Mike. Go" I ordered ushering the other boy towards the running car that had Nancy behind the wheel. "We'll be right behind you" I promised pulling myself into Hopper's truck and slamming the door shut as Jonathon and Nancy got the other two situated and sped off into the dark away from the lab. Hopper slammed on the breaks outside the gate reaching over me to swing the door open almost hitting Steve in his haste "Get in" he shouted the kids clambering into the backseat while Steve lifted me up and slipped underneath me before we were off again. "holy shit. You're bleeding" Steve muttered lifting his hand up to reveal bright red coating his hand "Thank you Steve. I wasn't aware" I gasped my leg throbbing as more blood pumped out of the wound screaming quietly as my leg was jostled around. "We need to get pressure on that. Under the seat there should be a towel" Hopper announced, a towel being passed forward and pressed to my leg making me scream out loudly this time. "Oh god" Dustin whined from the backseat as I screamed again when Hopper slammed on the brakes in the Byers driveway my leg being pinned between the dashboard and Steve. "Give her here" Hopper ordered lifting me into his arms and carrying me inside as Steve ushered all the kids in after us.
