~decided to skip the plane flight~
I stepped out of the warm plane into a cold, bustling airport. "Good thing I don't feel the cold!" I thought, looking at all the shivering Australians that just gotten of the plane. "Hmmm," I hummed, scanning the crowd for my home family. I grabbed my card from my pocket, "Konata Izumi," I pondered, thinking aloud. "Caito-chan?" A small, blue haired girl yelled, "Hai, watashi wa Cait desu," (Yes, I am Cait) "Namae wa?" I asked, to which she replied, "I'm Konata, age 16." I was shocked, not at her height, but at her intensly good english speaking skills. "You can speak english?" I asked, stating the obvious. She nodded and grabbed my hand, "Lets go get your bag?" I nodded and walked behind her. We grabbed my bag and walked to the train station, it was bustling with many people, there was lights and colours flashing around; snow floating from the sky.
The Izumi residence was quite big for a house in japan, they had clear space coating the main lounge room. I walked into the guest bedroom and plonked my stuff down, then I went off to go find Konata. "Kona-chan?" I called. "In here!!" She yelled back; I followed the sound to a cluttered, anime filled room. She was sitting on her desktop playing some sort of dating sim. "Hey there, whatcha playing?" I asked, grabbing the case from her desk, she looked over her shoulder. "Nothing you would be interested in," I laughed, "So are you a mage or a knight?" A grin formed on her lips.
It was dinner time, and we were preparing rice balls and miso. The door opened, "I'm home Konata! Did you pick up the exchange student today?" A short, blue haired man walked through the the lounge room to the kitchen, where I was chopping up leeks. I turned and bowed, "Thank you very much for letting me stay in your home," He smiled, "The pleasure is all ours Caitlin."
I was sitting at the table with Konata and her dad, Sojiro. We were all sitting pretty silently, eating our miso. "Did you get your uniform, Cait-chan?" Kona asked, I nodded, "Yup, we wear the blue one in winter right?" Kona shook her head. I laughed, "Oops, of course its the red one!" Her dad began to laugh, and we all laughed together. "So do you watch Haruhi..." I began to ask, but was interupted by Kona, "Yes! It's like the greatest anime of all time!!" I popped a rice ball into my mouth and nodded. "It sure..." I began coughing; then started laughing. "Oops!" I laughed.
