Taylor accepted her fate.

Really, she shouldn't have even thought of Karlie as more than just her friend. It had tarnished their friendship and Taylor could hardly meet her eyes whenever they were in the same room. And because they were both grasping at the one string that kept their friendship together, they awkwardly agreed to meet up often. They went shopping, out for coffee, to dinner but they were never alone, especially not in any of their own homes.

It's funny really. All her life, Taylor had longed to be accepted but never truly was.

Well other than her fans.

That should have been enough but after countless hours of meet and greets, it was her that went home alone.

She thought about all this while she walked alongside Karlie after another awkward dinner-none-date.

"I broke up with Joshua."

Taylor froze and Karlie who hadn't noticed, kept walking. It wasn't for another few steps that she noticed that Taylor wasn't by her side.

"You what?"

Karlie shrugged, her cheeks turning red. "I broke up with Joshua."

"A-are you okay?" Taylor snapped out of her daze and approached her sullen friend.

As much as she wanted to scream from the rooftops and rejoice on this small victory, she had to be there for her friend who needed her.

Karlie shrugged again. "It wasn't really going anywhere. I'm alright, I think."

"Do you want to go egg his house." She joked lamely.

It worked and Karlie flashed her, a small, but real smile.

"You'd risk getting arrested to make me happy?"

It was Taylors turn to shrug, "I'd do just about anything for you Kloss, you're my best friend." And I love you, she thought to herself.

The two continued to walk in silence, for the first time in a while, without the awkward air around them.

Taylor didn't want to but a small part of her held onto a bit of hope.

The hope that kept whispering to her that maybe it was because her. Maybe a part of Karlie did feel something for Taylor. Taylor often chided herself on never being the other women but in this circumstance, she couldn't find a care.

She ducked her head, trying to hide the smile that threatened to escape.

They parted at Karlies building and for the first time in a while, Taylor felt like things were finally good between them.

*time jump to December 31st*

"Pop princess Taylor Swift and Actress Dianna Agron were seen leaving a club late last night looking pretty cozy. It's the first spark of a relationship since Taylor came out almost a month ago. The two exited the club holding hands, big grins and rosy cheeks. We'll keep you updated!"

Taylor muted the television.

It had been two months since Taylor had declared her love for Karlie. In those two months Taylor had finally accepted that she was who she was. She had come out via tumblr with a video admitting everything. It now had over 200 million views.

Despite her coming out, her management had been more determined for her to get back in the dating game. After Karlies confession of leaving Joshua, Taylor had hoped that maybe Karlie felt like she did and had convinced her management to wait. But as her 25th birthday approached, the media doubted her coming out and her management had giver her until the end of the week.

That's how she ended up calling up Dianna.

They'd been friends for years and Taylor had been one of the first to know about Diannas secret. They'd kissed once and they'd both expressed their attractions towards each other but at the time they both agreed being friends was what they needed most.

Until last week when Taylor had built her courage up to finally call her.

Things weren't much different from when they used to hang out except now there was more hand holding and a bit more to drink. Taylor tried her best to forget Karlie but it was difficult and she often found herself comparing the two women. She hated herself for doing it.
She didn't know why forgetting Karlie wasn't easy. Every heart brake hadn't been easy but a couple songs, tears and good friends were usually all she needed to get over someone. But Karlie was like a permanent scar on her heart that just wouldn't go away.

She cared for Dianna of course. There was nothing fake about their relationship. Taylor's feelings for Karlie could eventually subside over time, she both hoped and feared. And when they did, she could see herself with someone like Dianna. Someone who cared for her more than a friend.

She had to forget Karlie.

She accepted that now.

Later tonight she would perform on Times Square, than just like she did with Harry, she and Dianna would watch the ball drop with the crowd. They'd share their first kiss in the public eye as a couple.

Acceptance wasn't easy but it was necessary.
