Giving/Refusing Permission

Can-May= You are allowed to do sth.

You can't go out tonight but you can go out tomorrow.

You can't make up.= You arenot allowed to make up. = You can't wear make up at school.


OFFER:

Can I / Could I/ Shall I/ Would you like me to do...?

Can I get you anything from the supermarket?

Shall I carry the bags for you?

COULD (Past Ability):

I could write and read when I was 5 years old.

My grangmother could sing very well when she was young.


BE ABLE TO:

Present: am/is/are able to

Past: was/were able to

Future: will be able to

I can speak two languages. = I am able to speak two languages

They could run away. =  They were able to run away.

We will be able to speak two more languages.


Should/Shouldn't (Advice)
