The week that passed was rather boring. Nothing new or juicy or at least nothing that was of interest to us. Joel and I grew closer though. He sat by me during lunch and more often than not, we'd be engrossed in our own conversation while the others were also engaged in their own conversation though we did participate in theirs a little. I also got to know a lot about him.

He transferred to our school because his dad thought they should move to a new town. I was surprised at that. I mean, no one would randomly decide to move away with his family to a different town but from what I know so far, they're rich and their family is pretty crazy. He had a younger brother who seemed too mature for his age and an older sister who was currently in Havard.

He was really good company.

"She literally ran after him to his home just to get her purse back", Joel said in-between laughs.

I couldn't blame him. I was finding it hard to even stop laughing. Everyone at the table looked at me, probably wondering why I was laughing like a maniac. As I slowly tried to maintain my composure, I couldn't help but notice Audrey staring at me from across the room. When our eyes met, something like disappointment flashed across her face and she looked away and joined the ongoing conversation at her table. I was curious. And no matter how I tried to put that away and focus on other things, I just couldn't. I had to satisfy my curiosity.

"Alright guys. We should start heading to the next class", Chloe urged.

Just when we about to get up from our seats, Kayden approached us. He was a friend of the guys. He was also in the football team. We had a few classes together and that's how I knew him. Rosy, Melissa and Chloe were on friendly terms with him as well.

"Hey. I uh...I'm having a party at my house and I was wondering if you guys would like to come". While he was talking I noticed that he looked at each of us, perhaps trying to predict our reply but his eyes lingered on Melissa a little longer. She didn't seem to notice though.

"What do you say guys?", Adam inquired.

We all answered in the positive except Rosy and Joel.

I looked at Joel, awaiting his response.

"Well if you're going then I will too"

I fought the blush that attempted to creep up my neck and I was losing. To distract the others, I asked Rosy.

"I don't know ...."

"Come on Rosy. It'll be fun"

We all made cute faces to persuade her, knowing she couldn't say no.

"Oh fine" she scoffed. "You win"

"We'll be there" I said with a smile.

While exiting the cafeteria, I spotted Jenna ahead of me. I called out her name and signaled her to wait for me. She slowed down her pace so I could catch up to her.

"What's up" she asked.

"Nothing I uh...I just wanted to make sure everything's okay with you. Back in the cafeteria-"

"Can I ask you something?" I was cut short by Audrey

"Of course. What is it?"

"Are you and Joel a thing?"

"What? No no" I chuckled. "We're just close friends. That's it"

"Oh...but does he have a girl or something"

"None that I know of. Why?"

Hearing this, her face brightened up a little.

"It's nothing....I just...I think I might be crushing on him"

I was surprised, not because she told me. Audrey and I were good friends. Our moms were friends and co-workers and we'd go to their place on some weekend when mom wanted to relax a bit and vice versa.

"Do you think he'd like me back?"

"Yeah. What's not to like about you."

"Really?", Audrey asked obviously excited by my reply.

"Anyway, I've gotta get to class. See you and talk to you later."

With this, I waved her and walked briskly to my next class.

Throughout the class, I kept thinking about Audrey's revelation. I didn't know why but I wasn't very comfortable with the thought of them together. I tried to get my mind off them by thinking about the party. I had to go look for an outfit.

Soon enough, the school day was over and I sent my friends a text in our group chat asking whose cars we were going to use. We were eight so we need two cars since we all seemed to have SUVs and Salon cars. I offered for us to go with my car. It was a Renault Kwid. Brandon also offerd to pick the guys up.

Rosy: I'll come over so we can get dressed together Ally.

Ally: That's fine.

Chloe: Count me in. Melissa?

Melissa: I'm in. And since you guys take forever to get dressed, I'll make us some sandwiches to have before we leave. You know I love my stomach.

Ally: Okay xD. I'll get the ingredients for some sandwiches before heading home. See ya later. Xoxo

At that moment, it realized it was good I brought my car to school because the grocery shop was a little far. I walked briskly to my car until I heard a familiar voice calling my name which made me turn around to face Joel.

"Joel. I was just on my way to the grocery shop."

"Yeah, Melissa would kill you if you didn't go"

"You know" I chuckled.

"I could use a few things as well. Mind if I join you?"

I didn't see why not. He hopped into the passenger seat and we strapped on our seatbelts.

We had a small conversation but it couldn't last longer because I was too busy thinking about him and Audrey. Maybe my discomfort with that thought was due to jealousy. Why would I be jealous? Oh my Goodness. Am I getting feelings for Joel?

If I am then...oh this is bad. I just have to push them away. But his constant gaze on my face made that near impossible.

This is gonna be a long ride. I thought.

I gulped, trying to find the right words.

"Is there something on your mind?"

"Actually, yes. I like this girl...and I think she likes me too but I don't know how to say it"

We had reached our destination and we had gotten down from the car so I could lock it.

"I believe that in any romantic situation, the best way is to be honest and straight-forward."

I looked up to see an appreciative smile on his face.

"Thanks" he muttered.

We were walking down an aisle looking for noodles. I had decided to buy more in case my mom wasn't back early. Joel was walking beside me, hands in his pocket and he was looking on one side of the aisle. We were alone.

"It's you."

"What do you mean?"

"The girl I like, I meant you"

I just stood still, staring at him. I didn't know how to react. I forced myself to say something so I wouldn't make a fool out of myself.

I felt the heat on my cheeks. I was blushing.

Should I tell him? That I kind of like him too. Ugh, damn feelings.

Clearing my thoat, I continued to walk down the aisle still pretending to look for the noodles.

"Well, you were right. The girl you like likes you back."

"Really?"

"Yeah"

I looked up to see him look at me with what seemed to be admiration.
