It had been a couple years since you'd seen him, but you'd recognize that wild hair anywhere.

"Graham!" You called out, waiving a hand at him in hopes you'd catch his attention.

The man turned over to look at you. Confusion, then recognition, shined in his eyes and he gave you a smile and a small wave as he made his way over. "Y/N."

Your grin brightened and you nodded. "It's been a hot second since I've last seen you. You went completely off grid last year. I worried about you."

"Ah, sorry. I lost my phone and laptop and couldn't find your number. But I've seen you around." He quipped.

You raised an eyebrow and looked at him confused. Graham grinned and gestured to a colorful billboard with you on it. Your cheeks flushed pink and you ran a hand through your hair. "Oh. Yeah."

"Ah, still shy I see. So, what brings you to England?"

"I'm on tour. This is my break." You replied, flashing him a grin. "And what are you doing in England?"

"I needed a break from the heat. Came up here to cool off." Graham said, looking away from you for a moment. "Also... I go by Gray now."

You frowned. Graham... Gray was lying then. That was his tell, but you didn't call him out. If he was lying, there must be a good reason behind it.

You nodded and patted him on the shoulder. "I have to be back in fifteen minutes, but tomorrow, if you're not busy, we can meet up here again and hang out?"

Gray nodded. "That sounds great! I'll see you then."

"No disappearing acts?" You teased, watching as your bus pulled up.

"I promise."

Four years ago, you were on a World Tour, and it had been a sweltering hot day in Australia when you first met your best friend. Even with the A/C on full blast, the heat still made itself known. You were overjoyed when you were allowed an hour long break during training due to the heat. Now, you just had to find a fan to collapse on somewhere within the Opera House.

You had a long string of performances coming up, so you'd been perfecting your routine. Now, you were messing with the control settings of a small fan, trying to get it on so you could cool off.

"Um... can I help you?" A man had asked.

You looked up at him, then back down at the fan. "Yes, please." You said quietly, shyly handing the fan over. "I can't get it to turn on."

"That outlet it's plugged into doesn't work." He said, unplugging it and then plugging it in to a different outlet. He grinned at you as the fan whirred to life on high speed. "There you go!"

"Thank you very much....?"

"The name's Graham."

"Thank you very much, Graham." You amended with a smile.

You offered him a seat next to you, and the next thing you knew, your hour was up, and you'd spent it all talking to Graham. He was funny, and didn't mind when you mixed up your languages. He had also never heard of you before then, and it was somewhat refreshing to talk to someone who wasn't a fan. You made sure to keep in touch.

Present Day

The same time the next day, you found yourself waiting for Gray to make an appearance. You didn't have to wait long as the electrician made himself known by swinging an arm around your shoulder.

"Hey, Y/N. Am I late?"

"Nope! You're right on time!" You replied, turning to face him with a smile.

"Great! So... how've you been?"

"Busy. Extremely so. Especially given this is one of the last spots for this world tour."

"Y'know, whenever we meet in person, you're on a world tour."

"This is the second time we've met in person Gray, in four years. And I'm still popular enough that people still want to see me perform, though I'm not sure how much longer that'll last..."

Gray frowned. "You doubting yourself, Y/N?"

"Not myself, just people's music taste. And the fact that I've been in the spotlight for a pretty long time." You teased.

Gray half-smiled at you. "Yeah, well, you've got talent, kid."

"I am four months older than you! You can't call me 'kid'." You replied, elbowing him lightly.

"You might be older, but I'm taller." He said as an alarm on your watch went off.

"Oh, I have to go now!" You said, silencing it. "I'm sorry... want to meet up tomorrow?"

"Yeah, sure." He said. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your cheek, then walked off, leaving you absolutely stunned.

You turned around to look for him, unable to spot him in the crowd. You smiled down at the ground for a moment, fingers brushing over the spot on your cheek Gray had kissed.

Oh.

The next day, you were waiting for Gray, but this time, he didn't show. Instead, a paper airplane hit you. It was electric green and had a note inside it.

Got called away on work. Had to finish the job. Sorry, Y/N, I really did want to hang out with you again. And here's my new number.

You quickly read the note. You turned around in the direction the paper airplane had come from. There was no one in sight. After making sure it was Gray's writing, you put the number in your phone.

Later that night on the news, a special report was done over stolen printing plates. You didn't connect the two, too busy texting Gray.
