As the day neared to the end, Izzy released a deep breath in relief. Her day of attention and hell was coming to a final close. After leaving Sarah, Izzy found herself being subjected to mean stares and gossip in the halls. Again, Nathan's small acknowledgment of her existed was making the girls of Evermore High jealous. As the final bell rang dismissing students from class, Izzy slowly began to retreat to the parking lot.
Today her father was picking her up after school. Today was a big day, she had an interview with a well-known lawyer after school. The meeting had been scheduled by one of her father's friends and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. If everything went well, she could be interning at one of the most prestigious law firms in the town.
Already excited, Izzy peared at her phone to see where her father was. Although he was always on time to pick her up when needed, he was nowhere to be seen. A message appeared on the screen of her phone saying, "I'm so sorry Izzy, my tire is flat and I'm currently stuck on the side of the road a couple blocks away, see if Sarah can take you."
"No, no, no, NO, NO," Izzy shouted drawing the attention of a few students. "What's wrong?" Sarah asked as she ran up to check on her friend.
"My dad can't pick me up and now I don't have a ride to that interview that I've been looking forward to for weeks," groaned Izzy. "What am I going to do now!"
"You can run," whispered Sarah.
"RUN?"
"Yes, RUN, you have wanted this, RUN," said Sarah excitedly.
"Oh god, I'm actually doing this..." Izzy groaned.
With those last words, Izzy began a full sprint to the coffee shop, which was where the interview was to take place. She couldn't miss one of the most important opportunities that had arisen for her. Without noticing, her phone slipped out of her backpack, but Izzy didn't notice; she was too busy sprinting to the exit of the school parking lot.

The coffee shop, which sat a good 15 minutes away from school, was crowded with people both on the patio and inside. The hint of roasted beans filled the street. As Izzy reached the final street corner leading to the shop, she began to lose speed in order to catch her breathe. Now panting and smelling of sweat, Izzy adjusted her backpack straps and winded her way throughout the inside of the coffee shop.
Although busy, it was obvious who Izzy was supposed to meet; she couldn't believe her eyes. In the corner of the shop sat an older man, who was most likely in his late 50's, scanning through his laptop. Stone Pittman, she thought. Beside the laptop sat two coffees and a plate of cookies and muffins. Izzy wiped the sweat from her forehead and slowly made her way to the cozy corner.
"Hello Mr. Pittman, I'm so sorry I'm late. My ride fell through after school and I got here as quick as I could. No excuses shall be made, however, I'm sorry for any inconvenience," she said nervously.
Mr. Pittman laughed to himself, "No need to be so proper, I've seen your resume and have heard great things about you Ms. Lawrence. I understand that things happen, so please take a seat and let's get started."
Izzy let out a sigh of relief. Finally something went right today, she thought.
"So I see you have volunteer regularly, maintain a 4.0 grade average, and have nothing on your permanent record. It looks like you're also a star student at Evermore High, extremely impressive I must say," Mr. Pittman said as he scanned through Izzy's file on his laptop. "What makes you want to intern at my firm?"
