Embrés POV

3 years later...

I wake to the bright sun shining through the gaps of the grey curtains. Even through the closed lids of my eyes I can feel the sun beaming at me. But that's not the only thing that seemed to have woke me.

I look down to get a good glimpse of the intruder. Her long brown curls spread out all over my chest and face also seemed to have played part in my waking. I run my fingers through her now tangled hair and move the loose strands out of her face.

My happiness, Maylah-Rose Harding. My little 2 year old baby girl. My world.

Yes, after I left New York... let's just say, a lot of things happened.

I now live in Los Angeles, with my 2 soon to be 3 year old daughter. And yes, she is his. But he can't know that, he'll just take her away from me. I can't loose her. She is the only good thing now looking back at that dreadful marriage. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

When I first moved here, lucky I had saved some money in my bank account from a while ago and it was enough to pay for a little apartment for myself until I could find a job. I then found a job at a Cafe only a block away from my little apartment about 2 weeks after I moved here to LA. 5 weeks into living here was when I found out I was pregnant.

Flash Back ...

"Girl, could you please do me a hugggeeee favour and quickly take table 4's hot chocokayes our to them while I shoot to answer this call? It's from the kindergarten that my boy is at so I feel like it must me important? Please I'll be quick! And I'll owe you!" My now best and loyal friend, despite us only knowing each other for a few weeks, quickly rushes out to me with a look of panic taking over her usually cherry features.

"Yeah of course B, you make sure little man is okay!" I reply also in a rush as she runs outside while I fast walk over towards table 4 to take them their hot chocolates.

Just as I'm walking back into the kitchen I smell something funny lingering in the air causing my stomach to growl. And not in a good way either.

Deciding to just brush it off I carry on tidying up around the food and kitchen until another growl happens, this time much stronger. Just as I'm about to walk off again I suddenly feel it all rushing upwards through me. I quickly race to the staff bathrooms and drop to my knees while emptying all of the contents out of my stomach. Tears find there way into my eyes as I continue to dry heave, desperately trying to get something to come out again. While doing so I hear the soft pitter patter of feet signalling my bestfriend Billie is coming over.

My suspicions are confirmed when I feel a hand grab all of my hair and hold it out of my face while running the other hand up and down my back in a soothing manner, whispering softly that 'your okay, everything's going to be alright' in my ear to calm me down.

"Emz, this is the fourth time this has happened at work..." Billie tells me worriedly as I look up to see the concern in her eyes.

I wipe my mouth off and go to wash myself if I'm front of the sink and mirror.
"I know B, but it's okay, I'm okay, It's probably just a little bug, nothing to worry about." I reply with shakily, already knowing that my reply wasn't even convincing enough. Truth is, I was starting to get worried. This is the 9th time I have spewed in the past week which is really making me worried now.

"Do you feel sick and feel the urge to spew whenever you smell something funny?" Billie asks me with obvious curiously laced in her voice.

"Yes." I reply with while rubbing my temples.
