Chapter Four

               Trouble & more trouble

Before I got the chance to answer, he spoke again.

" Are you following me ? "
I scoffed. " You wish. "
" Hate to break it to you princess, but you're not my type "
" Thank god. My self respect is still intact. "

Oh boy. He didn't like that
" Always knew you had a stick up your ass. You have yourself a good night Pipsqueek ;) "

He got the last word & that bothered me. Why is he always so rude ? Why do girls even like him? I would never know. All I know is, I'd be doomed to ever see this boy as anything but my arrogant neighbor.

I felt someone tap my shoulder, turning around, I was met with a pair of bright blue eyes.

" Hey hottie, wanna dance ? "
I thought about it for a second. He seemed decent & I could use a distraction.
" Sure " I said

He led me to dance floor where Party Rock Anthem was blasting through the speakers.
" I love this song " I all but yelled because of the noise all around.

He wasn't even listening, his attention was on me no doubt, he was giving me that look. Oh god please don't let him be one of those.

His hands were slipping lower & lower and I didn't like it. Not one bit. I looked up at him about to say something & what I saw scared me. Pure lust.

" How about we take this upstairs babe ? " He smirked.

" Nah I'm good thanks. Maybe some other time ".

" C'mon, don't be a prude. Let's have some fun " .
" I said no. Now leave. " I said with confidence, that wasn't how I felt tho.
He laughed. A sinister laugh

Really? Can a girl get a break ? I can't even dance with a stranger. Jeez.

He turned towards 3 guys I hadn't even seen before.

" She thinks I'm asking. How cute "
" Show her who's boss Nate " said the blonde standing next to him.

Who were these guys anyway? I hadn't seem them around school.
He tightened his hand around my waste. Digging his nails into my skin. Almost as if telling me there's no way to escape.
I inhaled & stayed quiet through the pain of his hands on my hips.
Little did he know, I was trained for these kind of situations. After they threatened me, mom sent me for many self defense classes.

As quick as I could, I twisted my body, which he didn't expect, the element of suprise. The key
I lifted my knee & kicked him right there.
He groaned in pain and fell to the ground.

" Don't come near me ever again " I said.
" You're going to regret this you little bitch. " he spat at me

Before I had time to register what was happening, all 3 of them grabbed me from the back. Leaving me helpless.

I felt a stinging sensation on my cheek. The bastard slapped me.

" Maybe now you'll learn your place"
He laughed.
He grabbed me forcefully & headed towards the stairs. My vision was blurry. No, I wasn't going to cry now
I had to learn to deal with these situations, they're still out there & I can't afford to be weak.

In a split second, I was pulled away from him & put into a corner.

" Stay here, don't move "
I knew that voice , who was it?

He left and all I saw was him punching the life out of Nate.
" Never fucking touch her again. Do you hear me ? "
" What, she your little bitch now huh Mathews ? "

Chase. It was him

That's all it took for Chase to lose it. He gave him punch after punch.
Mason pulled him away from Nate
" Not now man. You'll kill him. Let it go "

Chase got up & walked away, leaving Nate who groaned in pain.

"Police. The police are on their way "
Is all I heard before I was flung over someone's shoulder.

" hey! Put me down. What the hell do you think you're doing ? If you're kidnapping me, you'll regret this ! "

I pounded my fist on his back and kicked my legs all around.

This was it. I was getting kidnapped, my life is over.

" A token of appreciation would be nice, considering I just saved your ass "
Him again. Why is just popping up everywhere ?

" I could have handled it myself you know "
" Yeah yeah sure. Whatever you say princess "

" I have legs that work perfectly fine. "
" Have it your way then. He all but dropped me like I was some sack of goodies. "
" Asshole " I rolled my eyes.

I looked around , we weren't in the house anymore.
We were in the woods now, I don't know how we got here but there wasn't a soul in sight.

" What are we doing here ? " I asked
" Incase you haven't noticed, the police are on their way. No one comes this side. We're safe here. "
" oh. " was all I said.
I mean, he did save me. He didn't have to do that.

" Thank you. For what it's worth. You did save my ass tonight. I couldn't fight against all 3 of them. "

" I was surprised that you even defended yourself against Nate. Where did you learn to do that ? "

" My mom sent me for self defense classes before we moved. Thought it'd be useful if I ever needed it. "

Silence fell upon us. A peaceful one. It wasn't awkward or forced. Just peaceful.

" Everyone left. I think your ride did too. Want a ride home ? "
If it was any other time, I'd refuse. But I was tired & sweaty & the walk home would have been a long one "

" That would be great, thank you. " I replied
" It's just a ride. Don't think that I suddenly like you or something. You're still a snob. "
& here I was thinking he could actually be civil about things.
I stomped towards the car, or where I thought the car would be.
It has to be around here somewhere.

" Car's this way, smartass "
I heard him laugh.
" whatever. I knew that "

The ride home was a silent one. I eventually fell asleep. I faintly remembered someone carrying me in & placing me on the bed.

I woke up a few hours later, in my shorts & tank top.
That's weird. Last I remember , I fell asleep in the car. Oh no

I checked the time. It was 4:30 & I had a major headache
I made my way downstairs searching for asprin. I stopped in my tracks when I heard silent sobbing coming from moms room

I made my way towards her room and stopped at the door, peaking through the hole.
There she sat staring at a picture of dad & Jeremy. She looked lost. Like I was.
I felt her pain. Mom hid it so well, she was always the strong one, putting on a brave face, telling me everything will be okay, but deep down, mom was broken too

I entered the room and mom looked up at me with puffy eyes & shock written all over her face

" oh honey, what are you doing up? Go back to sleep, you have school soon "
" Are you okay Mom?
She looked up at me with sad eyes.
" I just miss them so much. " she said
" I do too mom. I do too "

I don't know how long we layed there, as a pillar of strength for each other.
All I knew is, mom was all I had left. We had each other.
