              Auditions & nerves

I woke up just in time for school, running up to my room, I had a quick shower and changed into a hoodie. It was oddly cold today.

I had almost forgotten about my audition today. I didn't even get to practice, instead, I went to a party that I regretted.
I'm not close to as worried as I should be, mostly because I perfected my last routine at my old school & I've always been confident about this one. That didn't stop my nervousness.

I haven't called Alison yet, I hope she got home safe.

I picked up my phone. 8 missed calls
One from Jake & six from Alison. Shit, I should have called her when I got home. I'll just have to explain at school

I made my way downstairs & saw mom pouring herself a cup of coffee.

" Hey mom, you okay? "
Mom rolled her eyes. " I'm the adult here Hailey. It's my job to take care of you, not the other way around "

I grabbed an apple & made my way to the door
" Aren't you going to eat something ? "
I all but yelled as I made my way out
" Can't! I'll be late. See you later. Love you "

I was getting into my car when I heard the roar of an engine. None other than Chase Mathews pulled out of his driveway in a black Bentley.
This was his car? Are they rich? I wouldn't have guessed.
I mean, yeah their house was beautiful on the outside, it was big, but bare. I didn't see them as the flashy type. How hadn't I noticed his car before ?

Maybe because he's such been an ass
I thought to myself

I didn't realize I was staring until I heard him chuckle.
" Take a picture, it'll last longer " he winked.
" I was admiring the car. Definitely not you " I scoffed.

" See you at school Hailey " That's the first time he's called me by my actual name. The weird thing is, I liked how it sounded coming from him.

It's the lack of sleep. It has to be
I cannot be fining Chase somewhat attractive.

I climbed into my car & turned the radio on, humming to the song playing on the radio
I entered the parking lot and made sure to park as far away as possible from the Barbie herself. I've had enough drama for the year & it's been my second day here.

Classes went by as usual. Chase ignored me which I can't complain about. It was peaceful, but I can't deny that class was a little boring without his constant need to irritate me.

Auditions were after class & it was now free period. I headed down to the dance class to practice, I hope there's no one in there. I've never been the shy type. As long as I forget about everyone around me & focus on the music, my body takes over.

I knocked on the door, waiting to hear a response. When I didn't hear any, I pushed the door open and looked around. Looks like no ones around. Great

I made sure to ask Mrs Reynolds if I could use the studio to practice & she happily agreed & made it clear that I'm welcome to practice at any time, as long as it doesn't interfere with my classes. So looks like I'm going to be here often.

I changed & walked towards the stereo.

I inhaled, waiting for the music to begin . As soon as it did, I began moving my body to the beat of the music.
Our routines tell a story, that's what drew me to dance in the first place.
I'd watch some of the best dancers as a kid & I'd be left in awe everytime. They moved around the dance floor with such grace & confidence. It was then that I knew that dance was for me
