Cassie moved towards Mindy, her arms outstretched.

"What you're doing...?" Mindy asked, moving back, screeching when Cassie gave her a hug, "You bitch...look what you have done."

Cassie only laughed as she let go and took a step back, loving her handiwork. Mindy was covered in mud, "You'll thank me in a bit..."

Just as she finished talking a vehicle came to a halt next to them, with Cole leaping out, moving fast towards them, "What happened...is everyone okay?" He asked, as he approached the group, assessing the muddy people before him.

Before Mindy could reply, Cassie quickly spoke up, "Mindy is a hero...if it wasn't for her...little Dave would have been a goner...She jumped right in and saved the little boy." Smiling sweetly at Mindy, hoping she would keep quiet...

Cole turned towards Mindy, "Is that true?" Cole was sure that something was afoot, he knew Mindy all his life and the image of her trying to help someone was null.

Cassie turned towards Pete, indicating with her eyes, that he should step in...

Finally catching on, Pete spoke up, "Sure did...Mindy just came in and saved the boy." Keeping it short and simple, he didn't know what game Cassie was playing at, but if she needed this, then he wasn't going to tell Cole the whole truth...not yet anyways.

"But..." Dave attempted to mumble out, only for Pete to slap a hand over his mouth, giving him a look.

Cole scratched the back of his neck, looking at the people before him, when he noticed something, "If Mindy saved the boy? Why are you, Cassie...much muddier than Mindy?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at her.

Shrugging her shoulders in a devil may care attitude, "I'm clumsy...You know, city folk and all. Landed smack dab on my face. Mindy almost needed to save me as well, luckily not...but, yeah." Giving Cole a blank look, hoping he wouldn't see past her lie...

"Now...if you don't mind. I'm gonna take my sorry self home and wash this dirt off." Cassie exclaimed, shuddering for effect, turning and walking back home, "Laters..." Shouting over her shoulder, waving at them as she went, smiling discreetly as she walked away, humming a tune as she went.

Cole could only think that his assessment of Cassie was correct, she could care very little for the safety of herself or for those around him. Shaking his head at that frustrating woman, smirking at her muddied state, as he watched her walk away.

Mindy having enough of the attention drawn away from her, finally spoke up, "Cole darling, wouldn't it be best if you checked out little Dave and perhaps help to get us home." Smiling sweetly at him, happy that Cassie had left and finally catching on to Cassie's white lie. If Cole thought that Cassie was a city slicker before and didn't approve of her. Then this interaction only cemented his belief that Cassie wasn't worth the trouble...Mindy thought to herself, happy she didn't have to worry about Cassie.

Pete only shook his head in frustration, why did Cassie lie, he needed to speak to Gran about this, they needed to come up with a plan, time was running out and soon Cassie would be leaving.

Cole could only agree, walking over to the boy, he wasn't too worried, Pete had look of calm, so that meant that the boy was fine, "You okay there?" Looking at his foreman, "I'll just take this little troublemaker off your hands and deliver him and his hero home." Noticing Pete's horse grazing in the distance, "I see you've got transport back home, so I'll take these two along and get thing sorted. I'll talk to you later." Guiding Mindy towards his truck, while holding little Dave in his arms, getting them settled in before he drove off...

Cassie was glad when she finally made it to the cabin, her body stretched to its limits. The mud was caking on her body and she was feeling a sting on her right leg and waist, but with all the mud, she couldn't make out what it could be. She really needed a shower, stripping her clothes off in the kitchen, she walked naked towards her bathroom, glad she was living alone, and she could just imagine her sister's face. Stepping under the warm spray of water as it gushed out, pounding on her tired muscles, removing the mud from her body. She finally let her emotions out, sobbing, as she remembered the events of the day...
