The few suns left of summer vacation go by in a haze. Hermione had spent her final days with her mum and dad, a way to spend as much time with them as possible. Upon receiving a letter from Ron Weasley himself, he offers a stay with them at the burrow, an offer Hermione could not refuse. She bid her parents farewell, and spent the three days before the first day of school at the burrow with the Weasley family, along with Harry of course.
Those finally three days were not as great for the boy who had no choice.
_______________Malfoy Manor__________
Lucius slammed his hand onto the table. "Get your head out of your ass Narcissa!" He bellowed, his voice being heard all throughout the manor. Draco stood outside the living room where his parents had been arguing for what seemed to be the fifth time that day. Their screams and protests getting louder by the second.
"He is just a boy Lucius!" Narcissa yelled back. "I refuse to let him participate in such a heinous crime! He will be killed before we had the chance! There has to be another choice-"
"IT'S THE ONLY CHOICE WE FUCKING HAVE!"
Draco shook his head and slowly began to back up, his fathers words finally sinking in, an his realization hitting him like a bullet. He turned away and stormed up to his room, slamming the door with a loud thud. He threw himself into one of the chairs and put his face into his hands, his breathing intensifying. Minutes that truly felt like hours had passed before any sort of noise besides his breathing was audible.
Knock. Knock. Knock
He didn't bother to look up. "Come in." He spoke aloud, his attempt of trying to hide the pain in his voice failing.
A man he knew all to well had entered the room. Dressed in his usual dark manner, his facial features just mysterious as he was. He opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door softly behind him. At the sound of the closing door, Draco looked up.
"Severus?" He questioned his sudden appearance.
"Hello Draco." Severus' voice held its usual demeanor. He pulled up a chair across from the younger Malfoy and examined his features.
"What are you doing here?" Draco questioned.
"Your mother messaged me and explained the situation," He began. "She told me about the task being requested of you, and thought I could be of assistance."
Draco shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. "There's nothing that can be done to help me Severus, understand that."
"It may seem like there's nothing to be done to help you, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I would know. I understand what you are going through Draco, don't think otherwise.
"How would you know?!" Draco snapped. "You haven't just been asked to kill one of the greatest's wizards of the century! Possibly even more!"
Severus seemed unfazed, he knew he would have a strong reaction for that's just how he naturally was. "We're more alike than you think, we both have had no choice in this world." His voice seemed to soften, disguising the dark cover that usually protected his words. Draco hissed and leaned back in his chair. "Alright, besides us not having ANY sort of choice, what else makes us alike?" He challenged, his eyebrow raised.
Severus stood up and walked to the boy's dresser, examining the antics that were laid upon it. After a few moments of looking around, he picked up a smaller picture frame that held a black imagine inside of it. Severus pulled out his wand, pointed it at the frame, and muttered an incantation under his breath, revealing the true picture held within it.
