The governments of the world, some more than others, don’t want you to know my story, but I’m going to tell you anyway, that’s if you’re willing to listen.

You see, what I am going to tell you is a very different account to what they will have told you, and though you may have believed what you saw or what you were told, the truth is very different. You may not be aware, but the governments of each country have power of the media in some form or another, though some have more control than others.

Turkey is a good example of this, the place where I began to grow and change as a person. Many journalists there will have their jobs or even their lives threatened for reporting something that the government doesn’t like. Some journalists have been accused of high treason for merely reporting their findings, whilst others have been accused of terrorism though it isn’t the case.

I will admit it; I was afraid before, but I’m not afraid now. I realise that I’m different but I have also realised that I’m not alone. I may not be entirely like you though I wish I was however I have learnt to embrace who and what I am. I am not afraid of losing my life anymore, especially not when I know the truth and I believe that others should know.

You’re probably wondering why I decided to tell my story. I mean, I have been labelled a terrorist after all even though I am far from it, and this story, my story, will explain it all. It’s time that things changed, and in order for them to change, people need to know the truth.

My name is Riley Jones and this is how my story began.
