Ruby's POV:
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. Still half asleep I'm reaching for it to turn it off. After several failed attempts to find it with closed eyes I give up and open my eyes to finally turn the alarm off. I check the time to see that I have to get up and get ready for school. I move to sit up and stretch my arms. I'm still tired and really not in the mood for school. But I have to go anyway, so I surrender to my fate and get up. The air feels cold and I have to resist the urge to crawl back into bed.
After I got dressed into my typical black cargo jeans, red hoodie and red sneakers I go down into the kitchen to see my eighteen year old sister Yang making breakfast. Yang is around 5'10 feet tall and blond. Her eyes are most of the time lilac, but when she gets really angry her eyes turn red. I still don't know why they are changing colors. Not even the doctors have a conclusion for that. But it isn't dangerous so they left them as they are.
"Morning," I greet her. She turns around. "Hey Ruby" she says with a big grin from ear to ear. "What's up, you look like you're going to fall asleep standing. Haven't slept well?" Even though the fact that she's joking, I can still hear the concern in her voice. "I'm fine, just stayed awake for too long. Should have gone to bed sooner." I give her a tired smile.
She relaxes a bit then says "How about coffee?" My smile grows "Thanks, that would be great." She nods, then turns around to prepare coffee for me and probably herself too. When she's ready she hands me one cup over and sits down across from me with her own cup in hand.
"Are you excited about the new school after summer vacation?" She tries to wake me by starting a conversation. "Rather nervous than excited." I replied. "New school, new classes and many new people to avoid"
"Aw, c'mon sis, it won't be that bad. You can make new friends!" She tries to cheer me up. "You know better than anyone else that I'm bad with people. Besides, I have you there now, so why would I need to make friends?" "Ruby,... You can't always stay with me ya know? Sometimes I won't be there and then you have to look for your own people to hang out with. You're no little kid anymore. You are sixteen!"
"I know, but I don't know how to make friends. I can't just like, go around and ask random people 'hey you wanna be my friend'! That won't work! I'll just gonna have to be alone then." I say jokingly, even though I'm almost crying.
Yang sighed, then stood up to hug me in a comforting way. "What if they're going to think I'm super weird because I skipped a year?" I ask while crying into her shoulder. "They won't. They're going to think you're the bees knees cuz you're so smart!" She patted my back trying to calm me down. "That's not better. I don't want to be the bees knees! I don't want to be any kind of knees. I just wanna be a normal girl, with normal knees!"
She let go of me and says "Just try it. For me!" I make the big mistake and look up only to be met with her big puppy dog eyes. I can't resist and hear myself saying "I'll try it." She grins and replies "That's what I wanted to hear." I already regret my answer. I drank my coffee and stood to get ready for school. I'm just not hungry anymore.
As I was ready I met up with Yang who is dressed in her usual black pants, brown boots and vest as well as her orange top and scarf and that one purple bandana she always ties around her left leg. I take my red motocross helmet and follow my sister into the garage. She sits onto her yellow and black motorcycle. I wanted to sit down with her as well, but she stopped me "Maybe you should start your 'trying to go on by your own' -thing by driving to school with your own bike."
I look her over. "Are you serious?" I ask, still not believing that she really wanted to go though with this stupid 'growing up lecture'. "Yes, I'm dead serious. I want you to do this. And I want you to start by driving to school by your own." I wanted to protest but again, she stopped me. "No buts!"
I gave up and grabbed my black leather jacket, put on my helmet and sat on my own bike. Mine was red and black with a black rose on it. That same rose is on my helmet. I guess it's something like my trademark.
Yang opened the garage door and I drove off without waiting for her. Maybe I'm not fair but in that moment I didn't care about that. I know Yang only wants to help me. But that doesn't change the fact that I can't make friends. I was never able to make any friends. Not in middle school and not in high school. And it will be the same in this weird boarding school/college thing we are going to now.
I must have been driving really fast because I find myself already about to park my motorbike on one of the students parking spots. I turned off the motor and took off my helmet. I have short, black hair with a bit of red at the tips and silver eyes. I'm about 5'7 feet tall.
I pull out the key and got off my bike. I look around and notice many people staring at me. Great, I only arrived a few minutes ago and everybody's already giving me weird looks.
I tried to walk as normal as possible into the school, but who's able to act normal under these circumstances?
Luck seems to be on my side for once because a white car with blue accents and a black snowflake on it has caught the attention of every person in the area. The driver got out and opened the door of the back seat.
After the door was opened, a girl with pure white hair, which is tied up into a side-ponytail, pale skin and ice blue eyes got out. She wears a white dress that runs down into the blue and white high heels. My gaze drifted back up and I saw a scar across her left eye. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I thought to myself. Because I couldn't stop staring at her, I didn't notice her staring back at me.
I snapped back into reality as a hand grabbed me at the shoulder and turned me around. I blinked a few times before I recognized Yang in front of me.
"Hey sis, I wanted to say sorry for earlier. I just want to help you, ya know. But if that's to much then say so, I won't be upset and...." I cut her of because she interrupted my staring and every second she is apologizing is less a second I can look at the beauty I met from afar, "It's okay, I forgive you, I know and I'm fine, please leave me alone, I've got things to do."
I turned around and could barely see her turn a corner. I wanted to follow instinctively but my sister stopped me...again. "Are you sure you're not upset with me?" I turned to her again and saw the hurt in her eyes.
"I'm sure, it's ok really. Sorry that I was so dismissive, I was just a little distracted." I hugged her to show her that I meant what I said. She returned and after a few moments we let go of each other.
Her hurt look turned into a big grin. "Sooo... what got you so 'distracted'?" I thought if I should tell her. Even if I don't tell her she'll find out sooner or later. I might as well say it now.
I took a deep breath, then said "I think I saw an angel."
/:So everyone. That was chapter one of my very first fan fiction. Ok I tried a few times before but they were never this long and never this good. (Even if this is not good, the few I tried were worse)
I hope you all enjoyed this and if you like it, I'll continue it (I'll continue it anyway but I'll upload it if you want. That's what I meant). Just let me now if you like it and maybe give me some ideas for the coming chapters.
With that said, have a nice day and sleep well everyone.
Bye humans
