It was hard enough not having Loki in your life, but it was days like this when your daughter would ask where her father was, and you would have to lie that hurt the most.
"Mom, why has Daddy been gone so long?" Your four year old daughter asked you, her piercing green eyes and pale skin resembling her father.
"I told you sweetheart, he's working for the King, he keeps him busy." Currently, you had her believing he was a spy for the King, stationed on Midgard. You knew she wouldn't believe it for much longer, since she hadn't seen him for 3 years.
Two years into your relationship with Loki, you discovered about his criminal past, and you didn't feel safe with him raising your child, so you told him to leave, and he did. You hadn't seen him since that day, the day you told him to leave.
Sophia barely remembers Loki. She only remembers what her little brain could retain, coupled with what you would tell her of him.
You only told her the good. You didn't want her to know what her Father had did. You didn't want her to know that her Father was a murderer. You didn't want her to feel the pain you felt. The pain you felt everyday.
"But I haven't seen him in forever." She held a heavy frown, the same that your heart held. You smoothed back her long blonde hair, the only trait of yours she held.
"Go on to bed Sophia." You gently said, instead of consoling her. You were tired of lying to the last person you had that you cared about.
She let out a sigh, but nodded her head and walked off to her bedroom. Always obedient.
As she walked away, you wondered how things could turn out so wrong. How Sophia, so innocent and precious, could get involved in something so horrible. How she could always find a reason to smile. How she could love someone who lied to her everyday. But then again, you had done the same thing.
It was days like this, that you wondered these things.
