Today was the day Loki would return from Midgard. You hadn't seen him since he had been banished there nearly three years ago, for trying to murder Thor and take the throne.
You knew what Loki did, and you knew what everyone else thought of him, but you could never see the bad in him, only the good. In all truthfulness, you couldn't care less about what everyone thought of you for having feelings for Loki. They couldn't see the pain that he went through, the good that shone out of every pore of him. They would never understand him like you could.
You stood on the marble steps of the palace, looking out at the bifrost bridge, waiting for the glimpse of him that would electrocute every nerve in your body into awakening. A pleasureful shiver ran down your spine at the prospect of seeing him again.
A portal emerged from the sky, trailing into the bifrost, and you felt a small spark in your stomach.
A shape immerged, tall and lean, and the flame caught gasoline as you saw who it was. You couldn't hold back your excitement anymore. You ran as fast as your feet would take you, and you saw the figure do the same. You ran and ran, until you were met by his embrace.
"Gosh, I missed you." Loki ran his hand over your head, smoothing down your dark brown hair, as you tried to hold back your tears, which inevitably escaped.
"I missed y-" You started, but were cut off by his lips crashing into yours, but you didn't complain. This was what you had been waiting for, for three years. After a minute, you both pulled away, and you held his face in your hands, feeling alive again.
"I love you."
