Chapter 6
She had written her name in my mind with permanent marker. "Get away. You're not welcome here. Leave. Now" Her voice sounded broken, distant, almost not there. "Please, I'm sorry. Join us, we can be together again," The words flowed out of my mouth as if I had rehearsed what to say to her a thousand times. "I will never join you. This won't last forever, it will end." Her words were spat at me like a sour taste in her mouth. I looked at her for a moment. "I hope you go to hell for betraying us." And for the last time, I watched her turn her back on me and disappear into the darkness. "It's not the end, this is only the beginning." My voice echoed back to me from the darkness. I now knew that my old life had forever ended, and a new one had begun.
