Chapter 6

The Good and the Bad

Friday had to be the best part of the week. Through the ups and downs, it's what he always looked forward to. He could be outside all he wanted, till it got dark of course. He had so much planned and he always did it all. He was particularly excited to spend the weekend with Sebastian. They had spent a lot of time together, inside and out of school. Ciel thought about him so much, it was like he was with him all the time. It was nice to have a friend.

He sat at his desk. One leg slung over the other and twirling his pen back and forth. He watched the clock. His foot tapped in the air along with each tick of the clock arm. He was cozy in a yellow turtleneck and some bell-bottom blue jeans. It was snug around his waist and hugged it and surely showed off his shape. He was quite slim and small for someone his age but that never truly bothered him.

There was a short of 15 minutes till lunch and that's why he was watching the clock. It was a Friday that was just going slow and Ciel could feel it in his bones as the clock ticked away minute by slow minute. He tried prying his eyes off the clock that only read 12:17. He turned his head to the left side of the room, most students had their noses buried in books. Ciel caught eyes with Sebastian and gave him a shy smile before looking away. 12:20

10 minutes made him anxious and he tapped his foot. His work was done and all he could do was sit and wait. Ciel wasn't patient in the slightest. He closed his eyes trying to calm his mind. He softly breathed in and let out a sigh. His eyes opened and looked around. It was so quiet, barely the sound of a page-turning disrupted it. He started to drift off in the silence. Nothing but the soft sound of his breathing, and even that was very quiet.

12:30

The bell rang and it startled him awake. He glanced around and watched students stand and gather up their things, the teacher said something about the next chapter in their books but Ciel was hard to pay attention to it. If it was homework he would see it posted online on the board. Even then, Ciel was two chapters ahead in reading.

Sebastian was waiting for him as students filed out into the hallway. They had made it a habit to walk to the cafeteria together. Ciel gave him another smile as he came out of the classroom. They were in comfortable silence in a sea of other students chattering about. Ciel clung a hand to his bag and he hummed.

"I swear it's not mine!"

A familiar voice sound in an upset tone rang through the storm of chatter.

"It's not mine, I promise, I don't know how it got in my bag...I don't know who it belongs to!"

"Alois?" Ciel called pushing through the crowd of kids. He stood arms crossed eyes looking angrily, a teacher holding a baggy in front of him. Alois stood his ground and remained still as the teacher further questioned him.

"Listen, I don't smoke, not even cigarettes, they're disgusting!" Alois was looking a little angrier as the teacher continued to show disbelief.

"Hey what's going on?" Ciel interrupted Sebastian urging him not to by grabbing his arm.

"This is none of your business, Mr. Phantomhive, move along, unless you want detention too."

"Detention? I told you it's not mine!" Alois was getting frustrated. How dare this teacher, who didn't even know him, he wasn't even in his class, yet he was accusing Alois' of having weed in school. Claiming it came from his bag. "I can't have detention, I have to get my brother after school, you can't give me detention!"

"You should have thought about that before bringing drugs into school."

"It's not mine, I don't do drugs, I promise!" Alois seemed to be holding something back. Ciel could tell he was telling the truth, but there was something else he wasn't saying. He was protecting someone. Alois looked frustrated and defeated. He looked to Ciel for some help.
