Chapter 8
Beat of My Heart
Time was passing slowly wearing this cast. It felt like it had been months but, alas it was only 3 weeks. Though, it hadn't been so bad. As he had promised, Sebastian was helping him take his polaroids. And Ciel surely paid him in full. The secret kisses the two had shared a numerous amount of times. It wasn't so much hush hush at school as it was at home. Ciel had been keeping his relationship with Sebastian to himself most of the time. He hadn't found the right time or the right words to say it, so he didn't.
Dinner in the Phantomhive household was a very close thing, and they shared a lot at that time. Ciel still hadn't said anything.
"So Ciel, your first high school dance is coming up, did you want to go?" Rachel was always quick to engage in Ciel's school life.
"Yes, I was thinking of going with Sebastian...ah and Alois! You know as a friend group thing.." Ciel stabbed a piece of chicken nervously.
"Oh come on Ciel," Vincent piped up, "It's a school dance, you shouldn't go with your friends, you go with a girl. It's your high school years."
"Haha!" It was nervous laughter. "Me, with a..date? Come on dad, I still have 4 years...I'm not really focused on dating...really anyway." A lie.
"Oh Vincent don't discourage him. Ciel you can go with your friends if you want to. It'll also be your birthday, so do what you want okay?"
Ciel smiled, he had almost forgotten. He couldn't believe how fast the school year was going. So much was happening. "Yeah, can Sebastian stay after the dance then?"
"Of course."
"Maybe, you know, Lizzie's friend, what was her name again?"
"Sieglinde?"
"Yes! Take her!"
"Dad, no, that would be weird! She's Lizzie's friend. And I don't know her that well...I—uh, I'm sorry can I be excused? I have homework I wanna finish before Sebastian comes."
"Yes you may." Rachel gives her husband a look.
So Ciel scurried upstairs.
"What? What did I say?"
Ciel couldn't hear the rest of their conversation, heading upstairs. Ciel did the rest of his homework, then some reading. Time surely went by fast. He stood from the desk and did a stretch. An hour and a half had passed. A smile came across his when he heard a knock on his bedroom door and it could only be one person. He had only gotten text a few moments ago from him that he was just walking up. He went to let Sebastian in his room. He looked very pleased to see him. Ciel invited him in and closed his door before giving him a loving hug.
Ciel smiled as Sebastian gave a kiss to his pink cheeks. "I just finished my homework, good timing."
"Well, I guess it is." Sebastian smiled.
They went to lounge on his bed, "Mom brought up the dance at dinner and it quickly got uncomfortable." Ciel got closer and more comfortable. "My dad badgered me about asking a girl..I had to leave..." Ciel pulled on his shirt. "I said I was going with you, but I realize I never asked you. Do you want to go to the dance with me?"
"Of course I do. It'll be cheesy and romantic. We'll slow dance and kiss at midnight." Ciel let out a giggle.
"I'd like that a lot actually." Ciel smiled and moved some of Sebastian's bangs out of his face. "I bet you look real handsome in a suit." Ciel bit his lip. He blushed at the thought. Sebastian with his hair slicked back and dressed all nice in a suit and tie.
