Slender -
The workday seemed to drag on longer than usual. It probably had something to do with your need to see what was on that camera, the curiosity that ate you alive. Is that a bit too dramatic? Maybe, but considering you took to biting your nails just thinking about it, the statement seemed really close to home. Even your coworkers noticed how spaced out you were and made a couple of comments about it. You wondered if you should've just taken the day off while silently cursing the calendar for being on a weekday.
Nothing had ever come close to the feeling of relief you felt when your shift is over. Honestly, you were convinced not even sex, the known best thing ever, could match you getting in your car to go home. While you drove you were so distracted you didn't even notice the figure in the trees, watching you.
Once you got home you even struggled to get the darn key into the door, but once you were in you raced up the stairs. Not before leaving your shoes at the door however, you're not some kind of animal. Giddily, you grabbed the camera and fell back onto your bed, hugging it tightly.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. Years it feels like!" you giggled then rolled into a comfortable position. Taking a brief look out your window you wonder if all the excitement was even worth it, but if you thought about how you could have possibly captured nothing you would probably cry. Anticipation clouded your mind and by extension your visual perception, which at that moment would've been really helpful.
No matter how many times you frantically pushed the power button the camera refused to turn on, which usually happens when the battery is dead. You let out a loud groan and go to take the battery pack out to charge it, but find it's completely missing. Looking around you find other stuff oddly shaken or out of place. Had.. had you just been robbed, for a camera battery? After doing a little looking around, it's the only thing you could find missing, confirming your suspicion. But, why?
You may be a ghost hunter, cryptid explorer extraordinaire, but even for you, this was kinda spooky. Was whoever trying to stop you from looking at the pictures? If so, why not take the SD card, why the replaceable battery?
Although, speaking of the SD card, you could take that out yourself instead of being a big dumb idiot. Sighing at your own foolishness you popped the card out of the camera and into your laptop.
Taking another moment before opening the file, you looked out the window again, this time actually allowing yourself to process the sight. The woods would usually calm you, but something was standing there, and you could feel your head get fuzzy again, just like last night. Shaking off the feeling, you pulled the blinds and walked away to get some pain killer, only to find your bathroom had also been tampered with. What is this strange criminals deal, did they get a headache in the middle of totally messing with you?
Still, you ignored it in favor of your own pounding head. It was pretty hard to ignore the disarray your medicine cabinet was in, however. The only thing left standing was an orange pill bottle, your view on its contents was obstructed by a rolled-up note inside. For some reason, the whole situation was only now settling in as really frickin strange to you. Cautiously you picked up the bottle and opened it, quickly looking out the bathroom door for a moment before taking the note out to read it. The paper, or rather papers, were folded up pieces of notebook paper, words and doodles scrawled all over them in sharpie. Nothing else was found in the bottle.
Sighing yet again you grabbed the painkillers and brought the papers back to your laptop with you, leaving the cabinet to organize it later. After popping a couple of pills, you sat back down and looked through the photos. For the most part, everything seemed like what you would expect, pictures of trees. Then the weird stuff started showing up. The first thing you noticed was the paper, which looked oddly similar to the ones you have now. There was a glimpse of.. something after that picture, but the shape was too blurry to make out. Then finally, you came across what you've been waiting to look at ever since you woke up, the tall man.
