"And the prince fell in love with the princess first." Zoya saide running a hand over Aadhya's forehead as she lay on the left side of her, while Aditya was on the right.
Aditya gasped and said "Sweetheart, ammi is lying, the princess actually fell in love first but she was not courageous enough to admit it."
Zoya grunted her teeth looking at Aditya who was smiling at their baby lying in the bed next to her. "No! The Prince made a huge tamasha at the Princess's wedding and made sure he took her away." She glared at Aditya.
"No! The Princess got arrested so that the Prince would come back from Paris to her!" Aditya said as if he won an argument.
"PAPA, AMMI, STOP! This is the worst story ever!" Aadhya said looking at her parents. "What is this Paris and tamasha at the wedding? Why can't they just have a normal story?" She asked in confusion.
Aditya and Zoya laughed as they looked at each other while patting her to sleep.
"Their story is anything but normal, honey." Zoya said as she noticed Aadhya beginning to yawn.
"Ammi, I'm tired. But I have to wake up early tomorrow so I'm going to sleep!" She said holding on to her teddy.
"Why do you have to wake up early, Aadu?" Aditya asked.
"Because it's Ayaan's birthday and I'm baking him a cake!" She giggled.
Aditya looked at her in confusion. "His parents are super rich, sweetheart, why does he need you to bake him a cake?"
Zoya slapped Aditya's hand as if reprimanding him.
"Because he's my friend, Papa!" She said, retaliating. "Stop being jealous, I'll bake you one on your birthday too." She said while sticking her tongue out at him. "And you'll always be my favorite person." Aadhya said before giving him a loud kiss on his cheek making Aditya smile widely.
"You twoooo!" Zoya mockingly acted hurt.
"Sorry, ammi!" Aadhya said carelessly. "It's true."
"Ammi's just jealous because I love you more, sweetheart." Aditya smiled at his baby girl who looked at him with droopy eyes now.
"Baby, get some sleep, you have to go to the doctor's tomorrow." Aditya said.
"Hmm..." came a slumbered reply as she began dozing off.
Aditya and Zoya slowly got up as Zoya adjusted her pillows and softly placed Aadhya's head in such a way that her neck wouldn't be sprained while sleeping as Aditya brought the duvet over Aadhya. They both kissed her on the cheek as she slightly shuffled in her sleep, feeling the warmth of both her parents. Zoya took one last glance at her daughter before switching the light off with Aditya by her side as she sent a silent prayer out for her. They both closed her room's door to prevent the light from hitting her sleeping form.
Aditya immediately darted to the bathroom as he had almost forgotten to take his pills. He kept them hidden under a secret stash with his shaving supplies where he was sure Zoya wouldn't be looking. The last thing he ever needed was his past spoiling their current newfound stability.
As he came outside he was greeted by a preoccupied Zoya removing her jewelry in front of the mirror. She hadn't noticed his presence near her. It was only when she looked up at the mirror, she saw her husband nearing her. He looked down as if he had been caught stealing something. He was embarrassed at the way his eyes were driven to her the back of her blouse that was barely held together by two strings. Zoya turned around, meeting his eyes.
He took a step forward and to his surprise, so did she.
As they came closer, they were both startled by the sound of thunderstorms, bringing them out of their trance.
