Llyr's POV

I held onto railing of the ship as I watched Elaina spend time with her family. They spent the whole day on this ship and I had to hide a few times when one of the crew members came to close or when her family dived into the sea. When her family dived into the sea I could've sworn I saw a look of longing on her face. Was it because of her sickness? I watched them closely for the whole day until nightfall.

A while after the sun had set, I saw the most beautiful thing in the world that starry night. The night sky was lighted up with more thousands of lights in different shapes and sizes. Everyone was staring at it, completely mesmerized. I was broke out of my stupor when my eye caught sight of Elaina who was climbing over the railing and aiming to jump, before I could scream a warning she was falling into the dark water.

My instincts took over as I dived in after her, I had to get to her. I knew from watching her the last few days that she could not walk properly, not to mention swim. I saw her struggling before all movements seized and I swam faster. I knew I had to get her to shore with out discovery so I grabbed her in my arms and swam as fast as my silver tail would allow me. Once I reached the dock where I saw her drawing so many times I quickly placed her soaking wet body on the dock. I pushed on her chest until she started to cough up water before falling back again. I gave her a long look before I heard shouting and when I turned around I saw five row boats. Probably people looking for her.

I don't know what came over me but I leaned over and kissed her temple before I dived into the water. I wonder what Primbroock would say about today's events.

Elaina's POV

The light streaming through my balcony caused me to open my eyes. I found myself in my room on my bed covered in heaps of blankets.

"Oh thank goodness you're awake," I heard my mom say as she rushed into the room crushing me in a hug.

She was followed by my dad and then my brothers. We had a group hug. When we pulled away I asked them what had happened.

"You fell over the railing. What were you thinking leaning so far over? If it wasn't for the current we would've never found you." When they said that the current saved me, I knew it was wrong. And I didn't lean over, I climbed over to get to that strange noice I heard.

The previous night's event played over in my head. I remember slipping into darkness when I felt someone grab me. After I spurted out water I could've sworn there was someone with me and I felt a soft touch on my temple. Was I going mad or was there really someone who saved me last night? And what was that noise that I heard that pulled me closer?

"I'm sorry." Was all I could say. My family was to relieved that I was safe and sound and they didn't pester me with to many questions. I spent the most of the day in my room, to tired from my almost drowning experience. My family came and went during the day, we mostly ate our meals in my room. This was hard for all of them, they thought they had lost me, but they didn't and I wanted to know why.

"Elaina?" My mother said snapping me out of my thoughts, she must have been trying to get my attention for a while.

"Sorry mother, what did you say?" I asked.

"I said that we are going to leave tomorrow. Tiberius sent a letter saying that your father has urgent matters to attend to." She said with a smile. My mother and Carling were alone in my room with me.

If we left tomorrow I might never truly find out what happened last night and the thought of being away from the ocean made me sad. I couldn't leave the ocean. I felt like I belonged here.

"Mother?"

"Yes, dear?"

"Is it possible for me to stay? I really enjoy it here and back at home I'm just another burden to be carried around."
