Chapter 6-
I awake the next day feeling very happy for some reason. Chloe is still asleep so I quietly get up and dress myself for the day. I put on my uniform and brush my hair out. When I get downstairs, I see Hermione, sitting at a table, reading a big book. I grab the chair next to her and look over her shoulder.
"Can I help you?" she asks.
"No, but are you going down to breakfast anytime soon?" I ask.
"I was waiting for someone to go down with actually," she smiles and closes the book and sets it on a shelf of books we have in the common room. We exit the tower and head to the Great Hall passing a bunch of older students who are flirting. I roll my eyes and keep walking with Hermione. She laughs as we pass another group of them. We arrive in the Great Hall and sit down. I serve myself food like always and Hermione does the same.
"You seem awfully happy today. Is there a reason?" she asks.
"No, not really, I just am," I smile and begin eating. Hermine sighs and starts too. We eat in silence and our other friends come down. They sit down and start eating. The day goes on as normal until classes start. I arrive in Transfiguration and sit down, ready to work. Professor McGonagle starts talking about how we all did on our last small exam and how most of us did well. I know she means Hermione and Chloe, while I don't think I did to well. Seamus and I sigh and we listen silently.
Classes are boring up until Potions. Snape tells us we are going to brew a new, and partially complicated potion that most of us will have trouble with, as he looks toward Seamus, Ron and Harry. We all laugh quietly and when we finish Snape yells at us to get to work. He tells us the page number and we start preparing. Seamus has a problem lighting the fire for the cauldron to brew over and Ron like always, has a problem finding the page. I sigh, rip the book from his hand and flip to the correct page and hand it back to him.
"Thanks."
"No problem," I say and get to my own potion. I am first gather all my ingredients and put them properly around me. My solid pieces close to me, my liquids in a liquid vile holder next to the cauldron and everything else behind the cauldron. Whereas the boys just lay them down and make a big mess. We all start talking and asking for help. In this class there are only three people who understand this and that would be Hermione, Chloe and sometimes me. But this potion is really complicated. It's the Cure for Boils and even though first years are taught it, it's really hard for me. And apparently Ron as well, since he either can't read or is just being stupid. I roll my eyes when I see him ask Harry what to do for the first step. I mean seriously, just read the first sentence and do exactly what it says. It says add six snake fangs into the mortar, and that's super easy. Even Seamus can do it and that means it's easy.
Fifty minutes later, my potion is done and I have another half hour until my class is done, and Harry and Ron need to still finish and Hermione is stubborn and won't help them. I go over to the two of them and start helping them. I end up doing most of Ron's and just helping Harry with finding his ingredients. Then I feel someones unwanted presence and I turn around to see Snape.
"Doing others work again, Mrs. Malone?"
"Yes," I say timidly.
"I think Mr. Weasley can finish his potion on his own," he growls and waves me away. I sigh and walk away, back to my spot. Snape leaves and goes to help Draco and I sigh. I look to make sure he doesn't see me and I rush back to Ron to finish his potion. Not saying I'm a bad kid, I'm just being a good friend to someone who will most likely fail his final and this assignment if I don't help him.
"Mrs. Malone, what are you doing?" Snape asks from Draco's stop. I look up and see him staring at me with a menacing glare at me. I gulp and sigh.
"Helping Ron," I say.
