Tsunayoshi woke up with a start. His breathing was a bit shaky on the bathroom floor feeling numb. He sat up and felt something warm come from his core and surround him... It was so warm and soft. He saw orange flames dancing around him. So this is what it was like to have flames. To feel so connected and grounded. His head was so clear... like crisp air on an autumn day. As he pushed himself up, he also saw what was around his neck. His attention went to the orange pacifier on a chain that was nonconsensually strung around his neck. He coughed and then pulled himself up using the counter. He saw the mostly empty pill bottle askew on the ground. A few pills were scattered near the open lid of it. He only spared it a glance before looking at himself in the mirror.
His once brown eyes were now a fiery amber, matching the flames dancing around him. As he felt some of his flames start to draw away from him, just as Kawahira had warned, he drew his flames back inside of him. Tsunayoshi had a huge flame reserve, but they were limited. His life now had a limit. His hands shook as he stared at his eyes. They were orange, even once his flames were deactivated. This was the real him, the one without a seal on him. His eyes glistened as his brain processed it. Then the tears came cascading down his face, sobs only increasing as he held onto the counter. He had so much stolen from him and now he finally had it back. Tsunayoshi never imagined his head could be this clear. He felt so centered and balanced. Even though there were bruises from yesterday, the defeated, dull brown eyes were nowhere to be seen.
The brunette just stayed there for a while. Then he heard his brother arrive home, along with the voice of a friend. There were no words he could form, how could Tsuna even face his brother right now. Never having truly been there for him before, Tsuna decided not to tell his family. Some anger bubbled up at the thought of this part of him being restricted and his family having the power to, but not, releasing him from his shackles. However, then the weight of reality of the situation set it, he had one year to live. The anger that had surfaced immediately dissipated and he looked back on his choices. Not wanting to let anyone see him right now, as he was so engrossed in his thoughts, he dashed towards his room and locked the door. He looked into the wall mirror at his figure.
The orange eyes that stared back at him were still unfamiliar, but in a good, fresh way. Bruised blemishes were painted across his petite body, his soft brown hair was ruffled. He ran a hand through it, smoothing some of it out. He sat down on the ground and just stared into his orange eyes, thinking about what just happened and what's going to happen now. He could do anything. There was basically nothing holding him back. No friends. No job. No ties. And family that barely ever focuses on you. It was time to change some things.
Tsunayoshi then paused in thought and looked into his drab closet. He had a few basic, dull clothes besides his two pairs of the school uniform. He gave a grin and went over towards his dresser, grabbing two hair clips. He pinned up his hair so it would be more out of his face. He put on a pair of plain grey sweatpants and a black t-shirt. He took one more glance in the mirror, at the orange eyes looking back, before unlocking and walking out of the door to his room. He heard G and Cozart, two of Giotto's friends, and Giotto talking about something in Giotto's room. Tsunayoshi raised an eyebrow but left it at that before grabbing his bag and putting his sneakers on. Tsunayoshi has a lot of money saved up from allowance and etc. due to him not having anything to spend it on. Tsunayoshi gave one last look into the house before exiting out the front door and walking towards the train. The train was the fastest way to get to the mall in a semi large town, a few towns over.
On his way, he noticed that Gokudera and Yamamoto, two popular kids in his grade were walking together and talking about something. He spared them a glance before turning his gaze forward, looking at the way the sun was slowly pulling down over the trees on the hills. Tsunayoshi felt mirth as he arrived at the train station. He was actually quite excited! No longer caring about any judgement from society, he was letting loose. Tsuna felt like his life was finally beginning. And in that life, there was no time to feel sorry for himself or worry about judgement from society. There is only room for growth, passion, and living life to the utter fullest. After all, one year only has so many days.
