The strange thing about seeing someone for the first time in a long time is the way they look totally different, just for a split second, and they look at you the way they always have, as if no time has passed between you. In truth though everything has changed.

I knew the boat had stopped again. God knows where we were or how long. Maybe this was what they meant by soon. Fresh food came the next day in my breakfast. I knew we were somewhere when fresh food came in. Some days I wouldn't notice the difference as my body automatically shifted to the different movements of the boat.
I was doing push-ups when they came in. Over the time we had been there my legs had not been running like they normally would be but my arms had grown more defined. They all barged in. It wasn't the usual hunters I had become accustomed to.
Whoever they were they happily blindfolded me and walked me to a car. I put up my usual fight of course but I would never beat around fifty people blindfolded. I pulled away from the man holding me and ran. For all I knew I could run off of the harbor and drown. Throwing the blindfold off I sprinted through the streets of the town. It was seven seconds of glorious freedom before I was shot with a tranquilizer.
When I woke up the first thing I saw was white. It blinded me so I shoved my eyes shut again. After awhile I opened them to find myself in a completely white room. It was painful. I tried the door and for once it was open.
"Good morning Miss Rivin would you please follow me?" I stood shocked at the man who offered. He was standing outside my door but he wasn't watching me. If anything he appeared to be there to protect me from something getting in instead of me getting out.
I looked at the man with suspicion. He gave me no reason to trust him but I nodded none the less and he began to lead the way. My curiosity somehow won out over my plain common sense.
The corridors were white. Much like everything else in the building. We would see the occasional person hurry past but aside from that, it was completely empty. I remembered my way in hopes I could leave when the time was right. It was clear the man leading me was taking the long road just so I would be less able to make a quick exit.
"Please wait here miss." He held a door open for me and I walked through into a laboratory. It was nice. I had enjoyed science a long time ago. With the world being a mess it was nice to know that there was still practicing scientists out there. I looked around at the work being done in the lab. It was basic work barley high school level science. Still it was nice to see.
"Hello, Rivin." Said a man as a group of people walked through the door. "Aren't you going to give me a hug?" Instead, I did the opposite. I walked over to the man and punched him right in the face. He let me too. It wasn't as if he fought back. The people who followed him did nothing aside from looking confused. I wanted to wipe those stupid expressions off their faces.
"Not exactly the happy family reunion you expect was it brother? You can't leave me for two years and then fucking drag me to your lab. I don't give a fuck who you sent after me. I thought those hunters were going to kill me or sell me to werewolves."
My brother had one job. To come back for me and instead, he ended up here, in a lab, oceans away from home. Fuck him and fuck everyone. The world had gone to shit and now here we were.
"Of course you have the right to be mad, sister. I am proud of how far you have come though Rivin. You didn't need me like these people did. As much as I missed you it took you no time to start thriving without me." I looked at my brother in front of me. His reasoning was stupid and he was just using complements to hide the shit he did. I knew the tactic well as it was one we were raised on.
"I know what you are doing," I said angry at the misleading my brother was attempting.
"What am I doing?" Idiot played stupid which was never smart. Never let them think they are the smartest in the room Mum would always say.
"Don't bullshit me Gage. In case you don't remember we were raised together. I know all the dumb tricks you love to pull. Stop and tell me what actually happened."
"Fine, I ended up on the other side of the island were I was shot and then taken by hunters. They tried to find me a mate but then I ran and I was found by the OHR or Organisation of Human Rights. They try to focus on or returning humans to where we once were. After learning I was a scientist they kept me on and now I am one of the leaders here. As for why I never came back. I found a cause that needs me far more than you ever did."
"So why send for me now?"
"I miss you, you are useful, and I wanted to make completely sure you weren't killed."
"See was that so fucking hard. Now can you take me to get some food." I said and Gage led me out of the room to a large cafeteria-like place.
"We are divided into our science group, fighting group, and our group of civilians. We all live together but the only time we really mingle is at dinner. The scientists try to solve our problems, the fighters defend us, and the civilians take on the major issues of food, and making sure this place runs."
The whole place was interesting and I missed my brother but I wanted to get back to my island. There was something about that place that made me uncomfortable. I wanted to go home desperately.
